Hi everyone. I'm thinking of buying a Tristan and fitting it with all t2 mods for pirating. Is this a stupid idea? I don't want to get a really expensive setup for a fragile ship, but I do want to have the extra bonuses from T2 gear. What do you guys think?
And then if it is a good idea, can you guys help me get a good setup for it? It will be for pirating.

Hmm.
I'd go with something like 2 blasters (whatever type fits) and 2 light nos.
MWD, web, scram.
As good a tank you can fit in the lows.
Either two tech II small combat drones or two small ECM drones.
Just be very careful about the targets you are picking. Don't eat anything bigger than your own head.

I can't use t2 light combat drones, so is there anything that isn't heavy on drones?

Hmm i wonder how well a passive tank would work on a tristan, worked well on a rifter for me, 2 t2 blasters, 2 t2 rocket launchers, 1 medium extender, scrambler, a/b ( if u can fit it, otherwise go for webber), in low's 3 shield power relay,
dont know how well this setup would actually do but your shields should recharge pretty nicely when it's on 30% shields

You can't fit 3 shieldrelays in a tristan. You need cap for the guns. maybe PDU in such a scenario?

Having an all passive tank would sort of make you incapable of performing the necessary tackling to pirate. No web or scram. 
If going to pirate, armor tank. Use ECM drones to extend your survivability. Hit easy targets to start with, mining cruisers, frigs or smaller barges. The blasters do more than enough damage.
