depends on what you mean by "first". I've never had 1 billion isk, but over the last 3 months i figure i must have spent over 4 or 5.

Took me around 9 months, but well finding money used to be tougher. But on the other hand, it lasted longer aswell.

Well, not spent money, but by 1st billion I mean a point in the game where if you sell all your stuff plus your wallet you could make 1 billion in your wallet.

I've been playing for a year and I still have to break 300 millions. What can I say, I'm a casual gamer.
Oh, I've also owned two T2 BPOs for about six months, which have been in production non-stop. Not whining, just proving that the widespread notion of T2 being insta-riches is moronic. ;)

Yeah, yeah I agree, stoped money is wasted money, my wallet only have 170kk right now, but if I sell all my stuff in my assets plus my shares and add this money in my wallet I would probably have around 1.3 billion isk.

Only time i ever had a billion was for 15 minutes before i bought a CNR, then for maybe an hour when i sold it again together with the 1.5 in mods.
After that I was down to 4-500 after a day or so
Getting the first billion took maybe 3 weeks of missionwhoring btw..only it was more like 1.5 by then when i started seling stuff off.

Reached a billion (cash, not including assets) after about 6 months... of that 175M ISK was down to a lucky implant drop. Don't play that hard since the first 3 months - too busy with RL right now :(

Having a billion isk is bad because when you hit the 1.000.000.000 mark you let yourself go and start spending and it all disapears into thin air. I passed the billion mark several times and shortly after always was nearly broke and I have no clue where all that freaking isk went lol. Maybe if I sold all the toys collecting dust I could like buy Jita and make it 0.0

Playing for 3 years i think. Best number my wallet has shown so far was around 700mil. ... well the game isnt about gathering lot of isk. Its just about haveing a steady flow of it, so its never consumed.

Playing 2 1/2 years I've had my wallet tip over a billion on a couple occasions only. I was actually down to 20k 6 months ago or so.
Money isn't really an issue in EvE, there are plenty of ways to earn it really fast, when you need to - imho, there's just no point in hoarding it, at least not the way I play the game.

i have less than 200mill isk in my wallet but am rich in asswts if i have isk i will spend isk i dont need to have billions in my wallet to feel satisfied im happy with:
2 vindicators
10 megas
5 domi
10 apoc
4 ishtar
4 ishkur
4 taranis
30 thorax
2 vigilant
all ships are fitted and 1 is insured when 1 blows up i insure the next one then go out and buy a new one of whatever blew up.
Means i can do what i want i dont have to worry about having isk to buy ships i have all the ships i need so i can concentrate on killing things. the above list is what i always keep my stocks at i sometimes have 1 or 2 more or the BS's

I was between 0 and 200 mil for half a long time, then I killed some officers in 0.0, when I could sell people something like a 'Hakim's modified 1400mm Artillery Cannon' for 450mil and soon I became a billionaire. Well, loot prices have fallen due to several reasons.
In Januar and February I've made at least 3.5 bil with ratting in minerals, bounties and loot, although angel officer loot sold crappy.
Since then I've been a few times down to 0 isk. Less time for ratting, higher losses and left my favourite ratting system, the one where I could say: 'Hauler within the next 15 minutes' and there he was.
Loved my daily hauler, one in a 4 carrier spawn even had 65k zydrine. Worked really this way. Hehe.
edit: Before someone asks, I wasn't in an alliance, when I made these billions with ratting.

About 9 months for the first billion, though most of that was made in the last 3 after I went out to 0.0. More or less ticked over there for a while until level 4 missions became available, then made about 2 Bn (or 3 Bn counting the Navy Apoc) in maybe another 3 months or so. Then blew 2.5Bn (easy come, easy go!) to let my corp buy freighter and battlecruiser bpo's. Would be over a billion again now but getting my alt into a carrier has soaked up a lot, as have command ships and fancy modules. Who needs isk sinks when there's escrow...?
It is a lot easier to make lots of isk now than it was in the early days - 100M is not an impossible amount to make in an evening's 0.0 mining, whilst a dedicated miner could easily make a billion in a week. Or less.
Though of course in some complexes you can make a billion in 30 seconds if the right module drops!

Took me about 1 year to make 1 billion ISK. You can make it faster if you get lucky breaks. The next billion could be made in a month, but I'm so lazy, plus the more money you have, the easier it is to drop more of it on things.
I've been eyeing up Navy Apoc's and things, not good really.

This character will be 3 months old tomorrow. Stopped playing in december 2004 and created a new character when I came back.
Within a month, I had about 50m and a T1 outfitted ferox when I started running L3 missions, 2 months of running L3 missions and selling the named loot and I had 1.1 billion.
After buying a Raven, insurance, and some of the modules I plan to use, I have about 750m left.

hmm, 3.3. right now, after what? 18 months or so?
I ran at the usual small number of hundreds of mil for about 16 of those months, saving up for a BS, grinding a few missions, replacing the BS because you didn't save up for insurance as well, etc.
Then I got into the corp's t2 production/selling activities (sell half for the corp, half for yourself) and haven't looked back since... only problem is you end up with so much expensive stuff you don't dare go play pvp any more in case you lose it...
Guess it'll be back down to the few hundred mil level before much longer, then

Was planning on saving up for a carrier but i like spending it too much.
atm i do have a problem of actually owning all the ships i want but sadly the gap between the capships and the rest is just too big imo.
T2 hauler aprox. 50 mill (not sure but definitly below 100 mill)
freighter 1 bill
T2 cruiser/BC aprox. 100/300 mill
dread/carrier 2 bill (i'm counting the costs for the capship and ship specific skill as well)

only in the last few months have i been over 500M since launch.
in the first yr - yr and a 1/2 i npc'ed excessivly in 0.0, think i wore myself out from it back then. but biggest rats were only 50k back in the day so kinda screeeewwweedd meself there.
but if u lack morales and are a shrewd buisness man/woman u can reep money around 1 B (nowadays) in a 3-4 months time id say.

I once made 370 mill in a week - it lasted me about a week too. Now, mind you, that 370 mill was made by spending 3-4 hours mining bist and ark each night for six days. That was as much as I could stomach. I have plenty of free time, I just choose not to allocate all to EVE. I do hope though that someday I reach a bill.

I commend you on a billion in 5 months. For me, it was around the 9 month area for my first billion. I promptly spent it on silly things. My 2nd billion (or my 2nd first billion) was just last month after an all out mining operation in low sec.
But in the meantime I have a freighter, several battleships, a HAC (until she blew up on a level 4 mission ouch) various barges and a Hulk.
So all told I have probably made and spent about 5 billion in 2 years.

Factoring from my normal 'money-grind' goal of 10M/day while working a full-time shift job which doesn't let me play much, little over three months would see me 1bil isk to my wallet, theoretically.
Of course, that's just the bounties, and not taking loot gains and ammo expenditures into account... Nor potential PVP losses/replacements during that time. Which would mean it'd take me approximately 6 years at that rate to fund my very own outpost. I don't think I'll bother. :D

This question is flawed as CCP continuasly lower the difficulty settings.
Once upon a time the only way to grind isk was by mining with tech 1 lasers, fitted on cruisers, with no skills to enhance it, and then selling the minerals to NPCs at base price. --> grinding isk took a long time.
Nowadays, once you have some basic skillpoints it hardly takes any effort to grind a billion per week.

Still working on it. I had about 350 million before I bought another ship... I have probably spent a bit over 2 billion, but never actually had that much sitting still.

Well 2months then 1bil every 11days after that shame i could never hold onto the isk
now 6months on i make maybe 100mil a week if im lucky lol
i should never have givien up on mining and manufacturing my assets total around 1bil i guess, losing all those t2 modded BSs hurt my poor wallet
:( i should have bought a big old money making POS when i had the chance
