the fact that they bastardize halloween, christmas, valentine's day, literally any day someone did something somewhere with corporate slogans and sales pitches is about to make me move somewhere else.
i miss the days when costumes were handmade with love by a mother or talented seamstress to portray myhtical creatures of folklore, nowadays a kid wouldnt even know WHO baba yaga is, let alone know what a costume for it would look like, they wouldnt even sit still long enough to hear an explanation, just start bitching about their lack of a superhero costume from their favorite over-hyped tv show that has absolutely nothing to do with halloween or ANY past iterations of it, be they christian, druidic, or anything else. |

The history of black Friday is not due to a made up holiday, black Friday actually came about slowly, and it was essentially the first day of the fiscal year that most retailers starting making profit. People would start chrsitmas shopping after thanksgiving, and a lot of stores saw an increase in business. They probably ran 'after thanksgiving sales' because, well that's what you do after a holiday. Over time thouse sales happened earlier and earlier as people wanted to shop sooner. maybe to get away from in-laws who the heck knows. So then they made the sales 'door busters' and more people came.
Now, stores are opening up on thanksgiving, because the consumer in the us wants them too. Its stupid, but customers tell stories 'if you open I will come'
Its what happens when your country shifts for a we, us, together, to a me, mine, f- everyone else society. I know what I blame for this, but I went to political.
To the op: no idea, I don't think CCP had any plex sales last year, and the clothes maker is in Germany, so no idea if they will do a cyber Monday sale.

I don't leave my house on Black Friday. Not as a boycott against the day, more as a measure of self preservation from all the idiots driving around to make the sales.
I get up at 7 am (because I always wake up at 6:30).
Make a leftover turkey sandwich.
Watch the chaos on the morning news while I eat my sandwich.
And go back to bed about 8.

Uph.. Don't I wish it were a meritocracy. A plutocratic corporatocracy, yes but merit? Show me the merit of inheritance - that's an accident of birth with zip-spank to do with merit for rewards received.
As for the supposed holidays: Both "black friday" and "cyber monday" are simply expressions of US consumer marketing and no I don't think CCP needs to do specials for the US. We are a large market but not by that much. |
