I love it how people say a vagabond is 'overpowered' because it can run like hell. The fact that a lot of hacs can dish out more damage while tanking better too doesnt seem to bother them.
After flying one [vaga] for a while, and hearing all the 'horror stories' before getting one, I have to say I was really disapointed. Its damage is sub-par, its tanking even worse but boy can it run. Sure its a T1 cruiser killer (and anything smaller), but other then that? Oh it can kill NPC'ers (but who cant?).
I wont even try to attack most other hacs (or BS), simply takes me too long to kill them and a vaga isnt made for long engagements. It lacks the tanking ability for that. And I absolutely hate fighting BS with T2 drones.
Although I have to say its a lot of fun meeting a few inty's on a gate thinking 'they will tackle you' for their fleet only to smack your MWD towards a warp-target and have the tacklers follow you (and as such get their transversal speed very low) and kill them in a few seconds. Is this overpowered or just stupidity of the tacklers? I'm sure this will get me killed one day.
I'm pretty sure the design of the vagabond was made for it to be a hit-and-run ship, and it does that task extremely well. Its not invunerable. But how many inty's do you catch with the gang with which you cant catch the vaga?
A (good) vagabond pilot knows to stay out of web-range, it knows how to get out of a fight it cant win, and it knows what it can / cant handle, and like most inty pilots, a good vaga pilot knows how to get out of a jam.
Its ships abilities allow this, but the fact that you cant kill it with your 14-bs gang, does this mean its overpowered or just good at what its designed to do, hit-and-run ? Its not like it'll slowly kill every one of the BS there.
Oh and before you start, no I'm not one of those snake-implant vaga pilots or a 5-stab vaga pilot. I 'only' have 2 stabs and mostly because I couldnt find anything 'really' usefull for the last 2 low slots (3dmg mods) that added actual value to my ship. I'd also like to add that for some reason it just doesnt sound right flying a ship worth a small +400m, with a crap tank, without at least 1 stab. After all, its a lot of isk for 1 ship.
