Storyline missions used to always depend on the agent level that you did missions for. I.e. if you did 16 lvl4 missions, you would get a lvl4 storyline, according to the level of the agent that referred you to the storyline agent. This does not seem to be the case anymore since Dragon patch. I think there was a thread on this here once already, but i didnt find it. I just got a 'Material for war preparation' storyline. The lvl4 variant of this mission is deliver 2000 kernite and get one +4 implant. What I just got was deliver 999 veldspar and get a +1 implant. Which implies to me that this is the lvl1 variant, and while Chribba might love it I do not. This is very very wrong, I don't even mind the lack of reward as much as the insuing lack of faction standing gain.
Trying to assume what is happening, I would guess that something changed in the Dragon code and now the level of the storyline is determined by the storyline agent and not the referring one. And since all storyline agents are lvl1 qual 0 behind the scenes... :( Can anyone confirm/deny this theory? And whatever else could cause lvl1 storylines from lvl4 agents? Randomness?

Aha, so that explains it. I suspect the same as you.
It'll explain why my "A case of kidnapping" level 3 only consited of low level frigates and why the reward was only a +1 implant. I got a corp standing increase of 17% though.

Right when the patch came out I got the plus 4 implants for these, then the plus 1.
It seems that so many storyline missions OS were trashed with the patch, that only the plus 4 implant ones were left.
Now can we have 5000 players all getting plus 4 implants EVERY storyline mission? NOoooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Thus they give out plus one until everything gets sorted. |

Hmm. I just started doing 3s before the patch and got my first post-patch storyline offer; kill mission, Serpentis Thorax and a couple of escorts, and a +3 implant (and a General Freight Container ), so I'm not sure your thesis is correct.

Can you please give me the name and location of the agent that you were doing missions for when you got the referral and also the name of the storyline agent you were referred to?
These were missing from your bug report and would aid our investigation.
Thank's
p.s: if you could file a new report with the missing details, it would be appreciated :)

Remember, it is always a good idea to submit a bug report with the following: 1) As much information you can give about the bug 2) Clear and concise reproduction steps 3) Logfile 4) Game Logs (if applicable) 5) DXDiag logs 6) System specs, hardware AND Operating System details <- i cannot stress this enough for all the "my client crashes" or "my pc crashes" bug reports.
I`ll do my best to look into your bug report.

Well, my storyline missions utterly disappeared with the last patch, and both of my contacts disappeared. Now I am stuck doing grunt missions for cash, having no idea where to go to pick up the storyline. The alternative is to start over, which I desperately do not want to do. |

Faction gain is what i want and do storylines for not isk, thats easily made on normal missions etc.

Can't say iv'e seen this Leandro, the ones iv'e had since the patch have all been level 4 related.. even the ones round your neck of the woods.
One thing that has changed though, the storylines no longer go in set order like they used to.
They used to have a clear pattern of the first one you get will be him.. then her.. then him ect...
The last one being your haunt (the 5th), iv'e had that come up 2nd in the list and the 3rd guy up first.
It's of little or no consequence realy, but i thought id mention it. ______ Long ago one gorgeous night, we let the stars grow free. We let Zhuge do that once, he came back carrying a traffic cone, a forsale sign and three empty bottles of dutch lager. He also lost his Zimmer Frame... - Imaran

If you mean that you get a storyline mission with the sequences around the wrong way, please send a bug report including the name of the agent you did a mission for to get the referral and the name of the agent you got referred to.
edit: mission name is handy to have too

You misunderstand i think, it's just i knew the sequence of order of the important missions.
Aka, im running for khandid out of irmalin..
You got ilahed gimehi first, and when you left them stacking up, the others in order till you maxed it out with the 5th agent (ladanal safol)...
The most you can stack is 5 agents, so i presume there's only 5 per corp your working for.
Anyway.. i was only just pointing out something that had changed.. aka it's any order now, not set as it was.

I also had a similar problem post-patch. The storyline agent running out of Gamis (in Derelik) gave me a mission (after 16 lev 4 missions) with a decent implant and a 1.6mil reward called "Shipyard Theft."
I went ahead and did it. Bugged to hell with me being unable to jump in. Rebooted, cleared cached, made it into the mission but lost my ship when the froze. Re-logged, refroze upon jumping into the mission. GM lent me some advice on how to grab my can, and I filed the normal petition. I had a corp mate finish the mission for me after the next day's downtime, assume whatever was broken got fixed.
The main issue now is that it was a fairly challenging storyline, and my standing went from 5.02 to 5.04. Presumably this is bugged. I'd submit a bug report but the website is down, and has been for me since yesterday.

I have submitted a bug report.
I got "A Case of Kidnapping" and sorted out assistance from a friend. Instead of facing battleship squadrons and sharing a 100m reward, we faced 7k frigs and earned a mil. A major disappointment as we have never fought Equilibrium of Mankind before, and were really looking forward to fighting some uncommon NPCs and not just another case of cycling the same targets, rinse, repeat.
The agents in question are named in my bug report. Unfortunately I took no screenshot of the mission offer, but you guys can see the whole story in my transaction history.
I really hope this is a one-off error, and I hope even more that I won't have to wait months more before getting a shot at an L3 or L4 "A Case of Kidnapping".

Sigh.. happened to me too. Level 4 missions with saioneilieu baerse (or however the heck you spell his name) and then I get a storlyine from archie in dodixie.. oh 999 veld and a +1? that's fantastic. In the time I spent hiring a miner to mine that for me I could have killed 3 million isk worth of battleships in zero. Back to deep space I go. I don't even think it's worth bug reporting, though I will. I figure it's pretty obvious that everyone has lost their level 4 storylines. (losing the kill missions that used to come with them was bad enough.) www.modthebox.com |

I've spoken with the programmers involved with this issue and the GM's themselves, they said the best idea at the moment is to send an "agent mission in progress" petition and the GM's will sort the problem out by forcing the storyline agent to give you the correct mission.
The bug cauisng this is being investigated and will be squashed as soon as possible :)

This is the reply I got from the GM:
"Hi, The real gain from doing storyline missions is the standing increase you get towards the faction. But I agree, it can be a little immersion breaking to do a level 1 mission when you are being referred from a level 4 agent. We'll look into it and try to have those missions beefed up, or linked correctly, whichever is causing the problem."

Yeah well I had 2 open offers for storyline missions both with a +1 implant after doing only lvl 4 missions. So I petitioned it under the "other" section since I had not already accepted it and I¦m still waiting for a reply. And by the way: one of the mission offers has now expired along with any standings increase I could have gotten from it and the reward of course.
Note: This may sound like a mission runner whine but that¦s just because it is one |

While I'm not going to petition this, but IMO this falls under bugged, same "Materials for war preparation":
Deliver 1000 omber to Nordar III - Transtellar Shipping (don't remember agents name atm). Reward: +3 perc implant & 44k isk bonus (22 min limit). That's a wee bit out of whack, on the risk vs. reward side of things. I bought the 1000 omber from the same station the agent is at (lucky me), for 125k isk total. So, buying 600m3 of ore from the same station for an agent that's 1 jump away... Didn't check faction gain/loss.

So what is the policy here? I appealed my storyline and got a response from a GM that implied they weren't going to replace my L1 storyline with the L4 variant. What exactly are they supposed to do? Or are we appealing these so that you have a list of agents to look at?

Not a bug
Uhà huhà
Here are seven for your viewing pleasure. (6 Amarr and 1 Caldari, my first ever Caldari important mission.)
It seems to me that they are finally referring you to the closest storyline agents. In the past working way down Asrios way I would usually get referred to Shemah (1 jump), Hedion (9 jumps) and Sarum Prime (11 jumps) as my first storyline from a blank journal, in no particular order, passing other valid storyline agents on the way that I was never referred to. Lately they have consistently radiated out from the closest available agents.
I think I just got hit by the bug although IÆm not sure, as I run all levels of agents. However I got a level 1 and a level 2, and was expecting a level 3 but got another level 1 mission instead right away. However I have no idea which one is the wrong mission. It doesnÆt help that there is now a much longer delay between qualifying for a storyline and receiving the offer, nor does it help that there is no way to tell what level the mission is other than if it happens to be an implant reward, as monetary reward missions can be deceiving as to their level. (I have gotten all levels of storyline offered, but the level 1 missions seem to be popping up more often than they should be.)
Lately IÆve run the exact same mission for the exact same agent and have gotten 1.2%, 3.6%, 4.1%, and 4.7% faction gains. Same mission, same agent, same skills, 4 very different gains. On another mission IÆve gotten 1.15%, 1.2%, 2.78%, and 5.63% gains. Again all the same mission, sec status etc. I even got a BS AB drop from a frig in one of these, which was a WTF is this moment. The storylines seem very FUBARed right now.
I do so many storylines that IÆm not too peeved at the loss of the proper implant reward (as IÆve already got my own little storeÆs worth of implants (various quantities of 15 types of implants and 15 types of hardwiring)), but the standing gain loss is a kicker since I wouldnÆt even know where to start with making sure IÆve got the right level mission since I donÆt just run the same agent/level over and over again. (I run a wide variety over and over again.)
Please fix this soonÖ, and add an easy way to see what level the freakin mission is.

IÆm speaking just of the æMaterials for War Preparationö mission, which gives an implant for the reward. 999 Veld for a +1 @ lvl 1, 1665 Scord for a +2 @ lvl 2, 1000 Omber for a +3 @ lvl 3 and 2000 Kernite for a +4 @ lvl 4. ItÆs the easiest one to tell what level mission it is.
Yes, level 4 missions -> "level 4" storyline mission -> +4 implant if you get an implant reward mission.
