As of RMR, battleships officially do not drop small or medium mods. The fact that thousands upon thousands of NPCers and agent-runners HAVE picked them up from battleships, is clearly a mass hallucination, because CCP couldn't possibly be wrong...

Yeah, this bugs me too. T1 Medium or Large loot can still be rather worthless, but please, if I shoot something big, I expect its remains to reflect what you'd expect to fit on a ship like that. --

Heh. First thing: you are not the only person playing. Second: if you start getting rare stuff from missions so will other 200000 players. Thus: this stuff stops to be rare. Third: stuff is worth something if it is rare. If something becomes common it is no longer valuable. For example, imagine you loot true sansha loot from every mission. Stuff lands on the market in bulk quantities and it price drops and drops and drops untill it is worth 10k. So you will never get stuff from missions that is worth something because this fact makes it worthless.

He's talking about the right sized modules droping from ships.. not ubber loot.
Obviously iv'e experience it, as i imagine most others, tbh i don't bother collecting cans.
It's bad enough that only about 7-8 cans drop from a deadspace pocket with 30 plus npc's... and that only 2 of those will be battleship cans... and that the majority of them contain the frigate size loot.

Yes i,am not expecting any named stuff, just expect correct modules from the ships...............i collected things like.................small armour repper, and 100small iron from a Mordus Battleship..................thats not really correct. This is not a one off either, they all drop ridiculous stuff.

It seems to work both weays, I've had BS loot from destroyers a few times
But mostly I get loot that matches the ship size. ---------------------------

I'll never understand why the loot does not reflect the ship you killed, and the weapons it was firing at you...
Why would CCP do it any other way? To purposely not make any sense?

Yes, then you never have to dock when NPCing.
Lets give them full fittings too, despite the fact the DPS they do isn't anywhere close to what a player with said fittings would do, damage wise.

If you haven`t noticed by now, a lot of the Battleship loot that does drop, comes from Cruisers in L3 and L4 missions ....and Lvl 1 Angel frigates still drop named Battleship ABs (Lif 100MN AB)

It was stated in a DEV blog (or DEV reply) many many moons ago that the loot table sucked and could not be fixed to work right, so they were putting a new system together.
Since then we have no heard anything about it and I get the feeling we never will.

Edited by: Ascrethy on 28/08/2006 17:02:29 Edited by: Ascrethy on 28/08/2006 17:01:47 A shadow serpentis I am informed drops (or at least did) a worthy loot.
I took one down a couple of hours ago and got a Civilian sheild booster
WTF
the guy was was a lot harder to take down than his "patroller" escorts, and all I got was a lousy civy booster .... doesn't even cover the cost of the amunition!
is this to encourage people to move further into low sec? as I took down 2 serp brutixes @ 75k bounty each and they droped at least come decent ECM's (and anti matter M)
in 0.2 ..... *confused*

A shadow serpentis ship has better bounty so at least you got that.
It's nice if the loot is decent too though.

Something is very wrong when battleships drop just a Miner 1!

I dont want to nag, altho I know that the loot is really bad and I dont ever bother to check, maybe when I blow up a War installation, even then i gotscrap metal :D.
There are also bounties.. For instance, Worlds Collide 1 milj bs spawning at a reasonable rate. That at least should cover the ammopart. If you use multiple agents you even can farm it if you will.. A steady flow of income. Why bother spending time collecting lootcans if you are after loot? Where as in the meantime you could kill more npc's. If you want to repro, it doesnt matter, it all gets melted anyways. I consider lootcans as a little extra to the bounty.
I have to say i am with you about civ booster dropping from battleships. It would make more sense if it was a standard large railgun or something.. ----------------------------------------------

It certainly was OK before the patch. I would do an L4 mission and from the battleships I'd get a very mixed bag but it may include a couple of low to mid named items. (ie Malkuth and Limos launchers but very very rarely (<1%?) Arbalest)
Now my one mission post patch may not be truly indicative but the drops were very poor indeed. **** poor.
As well as being crap drops, there were far less cans than I'd expect overall.
I didn't check exactly what NPCs dropped what cans as I was busy with self preservation at the time, but about 10 cans from the Pirate Invasion mission and doing the maths would make me think that only the battleships were dropping cans, and cruisers and frigs dropped nothing.

have moved to offering newbies in local the chance of a) collecting my loot or b) putting up a quick who wants it in local and asking for a quick ISK donation after trade is complete sure some players wont give u 100-200k but i give most players the benefit of the doubt in trust terms and its mostly worthless loot to most players but good for noobs (if a player doesnt send an agreed payement after they have the loot the yare added to a list of do not give again - this is working in my mains system
