The ISP servicing the connection to Tranquility and the MyEVE pages is undergoing difficulties. CCP and our ISP are aware of the issue and awaiting a full restoration of services. In the interim, we apologize for the difficulties and lost play time.

Makes sense.
Friend of mine asked me if I was having issues with the internet since alot of her european players on her Guildwar servers are having huge lag issues, disconnects and such but seems the US/Canada players are having problems. (since the servers are in the US)

As soon as the servers went down I began running network diagnostics. Immediatley I was recieving ICMP "Destination Unreachable" errors from a downstream AT&T WorldNet router. It is highly unusual for a connection attempt to be terminated that early on and this idicated that something had gone severely wrong. All attempts to track the source of the problem lead to routers registered to the RIPE corporation based in Amsterdam.
Like others, I have also been experiencing disconnects the last few days. I have never experienced a disconnect from EvE before yesterday when I had three in the period of 10 minutes, and two more later on. On a hunch, I have been monitoring my connection to Tranquility since the server came back up and I do have a very high packet loss rate. I do not know the exact point downstream where this loss is occuring since I am only tracking the TCP protocol, but I assume its at the same routers that went dead earlier.

No i dont think so, apology NOT Accepted, we would like some Damn Refunds for playtime missed due to the badly coded unicode patch and now your isp not providing sufficent quality of service. Sick of standing in line waiting with the other players this game is going further down the SWG hill everyday.

Uh, no. It's not very likely that network issues would cause a server crash... Downright impossible actually. However it would be the cause of the many disconnects people are experiencing.
This whole "world's biggest universe" thing is all well and good, but frankly I'm sick of the lag. Break the server up into shards. I doubt this is a popular idea, but darn it, I'm tired of crappy performance.

Cisco has used the cosmic radiation as an excuse of one of their devices going faulty (in my company). So why not?

What you saw means that BGP peers (routers of connected AS) have been notified of this network unavailiablity and had marked the route as unreachable. This info has been injected in the interior routing protocol (as it should be) thus you took that response that early in your traceroute.

if RIPE corparation is to blame is anyone in that country willing to go and cut their plugs off so the game is routed somewhere else
This might resolve the frustration of 1000s of eve players. Also a mail to RIPE showing what a good game eve is might encourge them to upgrade their connection to be as fast as possible
