Music is a big influence in the game, it can mean the difference between runing away or digging in and fighting till the end. I think the music should adjust depending on whats happening with the player at the time.
I have seen music adjust depnding on environment in some games and it works well.

first of all .. all the music in resMusic.stuff file needs to be made available in the default playlist ... that is
gallente* eve_rock* minmatar* caldari* and amarr (well they are kinda boring but they neeed to be added aswell)
then we need more music suited for combat like minmatar and eve_rock

The man who did a lot of the sound effects is called Kjartan Kjartanssonand is a sound designer who has done the sound design for a lot of films. And yes, Jon Hallur created more songs in the same theme that are not on the EVE playlist by default.
Ok, now we need a download URL _______________________________________________

What would you like more of ? a) the same b) more upbeat stuff c) interactive music (drum overlay on the ambients.)
I would like to hear something like that music from the intro. I find that music simply AWESOME. Sometimes I keep from loging only to listen to it :)
I also downloaded some industrials from the download section. Awesome too, specially "EVE Industrial 02b". _______________________________________________

More upbeat stuff. And some songs where the BASS drives the melody, rather than the midfreq violins/organ/keyboard/whateverthatis. |

OMG Three choices!! It's my lucky day.
"a" or more of the same ol' would be my pick, although I am always ready do broaden my view of space.
My least favoured choice would be "c", as I'd rather like to be able to fill the empty void that space is with the ingame player myself, weather I am hunting rats or hiding from them :).

If all goes as I have forseen, there will be many, many more songs written for EVE, and a CD will be released and perhaps CDs.
Just an unofficial survey.
What would you like more of ? a) the same b) more upbeat stuff c) interactive music (drum overlay on the ambients.)
Thank you all. jonhallur - RealX Sound Engineer / Music Composer
Hello, nice to see you:)
Personally i would like more "relaxing" "positive stuff",maybe a little upbeat.
My favorites from Eve:
"I saw your ship" "Galleantans refugees" "Surplus of rare artifacts"
I cant listen anymore to most of Ammar tracks, they are good I think, but so depressing ,sad and eerie, i freeze in my pod:)

Hey RealX, glad to see you here. I'll tell my Eve-Music story too... :) Me and my g/f listen to a digital feed called "Soundscapes" usually when we play our MMOGs (she still plays EQ, I have evolved to EVE). The first night I was playing EVE and she was playing her EQ, she insisted I "turn up that music - it's so awesome!"
I too have stopped listening to my MP3 players or digital feeds while in EVE because the music adds so much to the already intense ambience of deep space. Fine, fine work. I do not think there is a piece I've heard that I haven't liked.
I too am a composer, so I relate to what you are doing - very inspirational on an entire real-life level as well. Thank you, and keep up the good work!

Hey RealX the music is really good but I find myself falling asleep in the wee hours of the morining while I mine so I have to put on some techno or something else upbeat to keep me awake. However I have a suggestion for you as others have also stated. Dunno if it can be done on everyones client side or not but a change from mello to upbeat music when battles occurs would be cool, like the Homeworld series or Lucasarts Starwars. That would be cool. But definately more music would be great.

Whichever sounds more like my three favorites, "...But Still We Go On", "Omens", and "Forsaken Ruins". Those three pieces have inspired more creativity in my own little "realm" here than you'll ever know. Each one has a different "mood", but they all have a haunting, almost mystical feel to them.
There's phenomenal talent over there at CCP on every level, no question about it.

Dynamic music would really be great So I go for c)
Additionally I would love a turbine sound for the ships. It gets too quiet when you have the music turned off, so space needs more background sounds and the ships some deep bass-noise to bring even more athmosphere into the game.

Holy poo, a friendly incursion of EVE staff, and the possiblity of seomthing being accomplished. I hope this is a good trend.
Personally, with the threat of war between the Minmats and Amarr, some really gritty war songs would be in good order as well. Kinda like Zimmer's BHD soundtrack.

Ive noticed that there was a downloadable song ( one of my favorite)from the site named as 'Eve Gallantean 02' which is a different version of the same song named as 'Merchants, Looters and Ghost'. Could it be possible to get the 'Eve Gallentean 02' version available in ogg format (better than mp3). Thx Jon.
I'd like to say as some people here : congrats for the music Jon and wonderful work !

I absolutely love the music in Eve, it fits the game so well. I rarely listen to anything else while I play, maybe some ambient if anything.
More music sounds really good! More of the same if you ask me but some dynamic music wouldn't hurt either.
My personal favourites are Below the Asteroids, Red Glowing Dust (I've fallen asleep listening to this. Hi Ariadne :), Green Nebula, and others I can't remember the names of.
The "extra" music in the .stuff file is very good too but imho don't fit Eve as well as the current playlist, tho there was one track there that I can't grow tired listening to, can't remember the name of it now :/
The promise(?) of CDs makes me start saving money right now. Could we buy them with ISK? :D

Edited by: Armaki Kalear on 21/10/2003 15:53:45 RealX: Yes truely wikid tunes in Eve, well done. In all honesty, back before I was in the beta I had downloaded all the songs and listened to them while playing other games and even at work.. Had a few strange looks tho
Anyway, basically you, sir, can do no wrong. Variety is great. Some music originally posted in the downloads section is grittier and at the same time more interesting than some of the final trax. Eg: My Other Residency (vs Gallentaen 01).
Release favs: Below the Asteroids Ride Out the Storm Red Glowing Dust (mad bass) Amongst Allies Minmatar Rebel Alliance (aka Ambient 05)
Original favs: Gallentaen 01->04 (amazing) In Flight 01&02 Industrial 02b
Other music I listen to while playing eve (no particular order)...
Juno Reactor (Shango, Beyond the Infinite, Bible of Dreams)
Aphex Twin (Ambient stuff)
Chicane (esp remixes)
Various Kruder & Dorfmeister
Underworld
Apollo 440 tracks like Vanishing Point, The Machine in the Ghost, For Forty Days
Anyway...(back to topic) I look forward to more stuff from you!
