This has always been the hardest thing for us to capture, process and display to the world in its most raw form, given your seemingly boundless creativity and dedication to the EVE Universe. A few months ago a number of people at CCP decided to take on this challenge, and at the start of September we released a cluster-wide call to arms in order to collect the communityGÇÖs most awesome moments from voice comms. After weeks of editing, a lot of discussion and many hours of rendering here at CCP we hope that in some way we may have found a way to display the fun, frustrating, exhilarating and intense moments that the community has submitted to us in response to this call to arms. WeGÇÖd like to present a different view on producing a trailer for EVE. This is a view that focuses less on EVE itself and more on the people who make it live and breathe. All of you, because without your mining, manufacturing, piracy, war declarations, spying, espionage and gatecamps, New Eden would be a pretty quiet and lifeless place. Debuted at EVE Down Under, GÇ£This is EVEGÇ¥ is not only the newest trailer for EVE Online, it serves as a tribute and a thank you to the EVE Online community for twelve glorious years of mayhem, with the hope of many more to come. GÇ£This is EVEGÇ¥ is available in two formats: Uncensored & Raw (Contains Strong Language) - Samples from voice comms remain as they were when they were submitted to us. PG-13 (Censored) - Samples from voice comms are censored when mean capsuleers say bad words.. Help us further with This is EVE! Along with the release, weGÇÖd like to make a second call to arms for the community to translate GÇ£This is EVEGÇ¥ into all our supported languages (French, German & Russian), as weGÇÖd like to continue to put the creative power in your hands and enable the finest community in online gaming to showcase EVE Online. We would eventually like to display these translated versions on the official CCP Games YouTube Channel, with full credits to those whose videos are featured. He also puts of with the crazy Podside crew weekly, making him one of, if not the, most active in that segment of community outreach. I personally would have loved to have seen E-Uni and RvB represented for highsec organizations and It boggles my mind that they would not submit clips for inclusion. They didn't show a bunch of ships docking up when a neut popped in system, they're 2/2 on null then. I guess I shouldn't poke bears with sticks but I couldn't resist. The trailer was great and I hope there are lots more to come. You guys are really hitting it out of the park lately and I hope that you keep it up. For all the new players out there - you don't need to be in fleet of 100+ people to have so much fun, you could be with your friends, or like the guy trying to escape with all assets, I am sure he was pumped full of adrenaline.

Despite the one or two nay-saying comments in this thread, I have to point out, you guys did a great job of putting everything you could fit into the trailer. Being a miner in Hi and Low sec, I was quite pleased to see the Mackinaw / Retriever tearing up a rock, happy to see the station traders represented with the guy talking about building and selling and his profit margin, and just as a sci fi fan and having just come out of a low sec scuffle where for once we scored a kill (with some help) the amazing ship battles. Thank you CCP for giving us all such a great hobby, and/or way of life .

To all the people that wish to post hate/troll/flame: The trailer is made to show-case what was submitted to CCP, so if you want to whine and complain about what was shown, then how about you get off your lazy bum and do something? You can record what you do in high-sec. You can record what you do on gate camps. You can record and submit everything you do on a daily basis and let CCP see how YOU play the game. What was shown in this video, while yes it is mainly null/low sec events, can be changed by the playbase to show more high sec actions and events. Though it may not be as entertaining, it can still be done in a light to give new players coming in an experience with both high sec powers, low sec powers, and null sec powers. This game is what you make of it. The community is what you make of it. Don't whine and complain because you didn't do **** to change something, you can only whine if you actually did something and they refused to change even after you tried your hardest.

New players start out doing tutorials & running missions in high sec, but the rewards from missions is way out of touch in, relation to market prices in today's EvE. There is no way a new player ( most often new players are casual players) on a trail, could hope to be able to gain experience & at the same time make enough isk, to afford a new ship, little lone a plex (close to 1bil isk) so that they can continue to play. So imho I think we need a rebalance of missions rewards & a tutorial of sorts on how to make isk.

So not just the best trailer in my opinion, but the most REAL Eve trailer. Please keep these coming, but don't dump the story trailers; I liked the previous trailer giving up your life to become a immortal clone, f'ing up in a fight & starting in another fresh clone. The story trailers build the scenes/backgrounds, the current trailer shows the trials and tribulations of us Pod-dwellers. With my best wishes for the next trailer, I am with baited breath o7

We should make a cinematic about the highsec bots farming veld/ice dry. Most of the major commerce is done in highsec. which isn't possible without low/nullsec. It's an eco system. Just because you see nullsec corps on a trailer doesn't mean anything. It just happens to be more eventful than lets say.. a 5 minute trailer showing where 'Joe Trader' just made a whopping 6.13% increase on a buy order over the period of a couple minutes margin trading. It's a space game, with lasers. People want to blow up ships (on the average). I don't enjoy being bitter, but I also will not think CCP are doing anything good until I feel an urge to resub my main and put her 75 million SP to use. So did you tell them the truth, which is "not much". EVE is so much more accessible now than with I started, the Attack Battlecruisers that died in the pipe bombing take days to train from scratch, the bombers in the beginning segement don't take much longer, nor does mineing take a load of time to train a starter character. Brave Newbie, EVE U, Goons and others prove that you can jump head 1st into the 'good stuff' very early on. A guy my buddy intorduced to the game and that I helped out with the loan of my spare Maelstrom last year was flying a faction gun machariel within 2 months of paying his 1st subscription fee in Incursion fleets (he bought the mach with isk he earned using the Maelstrom). Another new guy wanted in to the combat right away, so I introduced him to the EVE Radio and Sir Squebbles chat channels, he flew a tech1 frig with meta guns his 1st time out. He died alot before getting on his 1st kill mail. A year later that guy is in a famous merc alliance screwing with goons in npc null. It simply takes a player who is either a self starter (rather than the gamer standard "show me how" mentality) who goes and makes friends OR someone introduced to the game by friends. In other words, it takes an EVE player rather than a themeparker who would be better served by a themepark/hand-holding game.

It's not that hard to move to null I have fun fleets all week long You don't even have to do that much, I know of a half dozen player made chanels where people can go and find activity originating in high sec (Sir Squeebles being the most well known of them of course, and I've mentioned EVe radio). Hell, it's takes nothing at all to get a couple friends together and go and do something. The real truth is that most gamers (and surprisingly, many EVE players) just aren't the kinds of folks who benifit from an unstructured entertainment environment (ie FREEDOM lol). Almost every single night for 7 years I've struggled with what to do with myself (pve in high sec, or low, or null, take a day trip to a wormhole, hope for an in game event, join a kitchen sink roam ala Sir Squeebles or EVE radio, log in null toon for a CTA or null sec roam, etc etc) while listening to others tell me how 'boring' EVE can be lol.

Brave Newbie, EVE U, Goons and others prove that you can jump head 1st into the 'good stuff' very early on. A guy my buddy intorduced to the game and that I helped out with the loan of my spare Maelstrom last year was flying a faction gun machariel within 2 months of paying his 1st subscription fee in Incursion fleets (he bought the mach with isk he earned using the Maelstrom). Another new guy wanted in to the combat right away, so I introduced him to the EVE Radio and Sir Squebbles chat channels, he flew a tech1 frig with meta guns his 1st time out. He died alot before getting on his 1st kill mail. A year later that guy is in a famous merc alliance screwing with goons in npc null. It simply takes a player who is either a self starter (rather than the gamer standard "show me how" mentality) who goes and makes friends OR someone introduced to the game by friends. In other words, it takes an EVE player rather than a themeparker who would be better served by a themepark/hand-holding game. Stop the presses! For me the guys from Bombers Bar really showcased the exhilaration of the game. Magnasis Drakkenwolf's segment displayed the quiet satisfaction of making progress in the worlds hardest MMOG and for this reason was well worth including. The other segments showing the contrasting play styles of RnK and BRAVE were excellent. Player generated content and comms must be the way forward for Eve promos. I have not had time to read the whole thread and others may have said similar things, but the next one could include segments featuring other languages intermixed with english to demonstrate the international flavour of the game. If made available, we could see some of the different ethos of different players such as dirty cowardly pirates all the way to the almost quasi religious ethos of CVA. It is up to us, the players, to give CCP the material needed to showcase the best mmog out there. Again well done CCP.

And damn is it pretty! Seriously, this is the most consistently gorgeous game I think I've ever played! It's more than just the jaw-dropping ships, stars, nebulae and other space stuff (my favorite little aesthetic perk: I love how, when you set a destination, your lines of travel actually show up against the background of stars outside of the map window)---the spectacular visuals extend to things you wouldn't really "expect" from a space MMO, like character design. I mean, look at me! I'm gorgeous! (You should seriously outsource your character customization system to Bioware: It's impossible to make even a slightly attractive individual in any game they've ever made.)

Great work CCP on putting this together. I hope you release more trailers like this from now on. I've always like the CGI trailers, however this type of trailer has a tremendous impact in showing what EVE is really about. A few of my friends that have tried EVE, and hated it, all said this trailer makes them want to try out EVE again.

That is just a cop-out for not being willing to spend the money to police it. grief-monkeys have all the advantages. A trailer isn't going to change that. Also, CCP Rise destroyed a playstyle when he changed the Rattlesnake unnecessarily, a ship that was considered UP solely out of its lower DPS. It only needed an extra low slot. The rebalance of this SP intensive ship amounted to no more than tinkering. An extremely callous way to treat your customers.

Again I don't seem to experience life in general in the same way most people do Most TV and movies I can't watch which is why I spend most of my time in video games so I would take my opinion on a trailer for this game with a grain of salt but for what it's worth I think Rooks and Kings does a much better job as they explain complex things in a way that someone who has never played the game before can at least get an idea of what is going on. However some of their videos are over an hour long and I understand you can't do that in a trailer. Anyway for what it's worth there is my two cents.

You're looking to deeply at the video and analyzing it as a player. The video is all about people having fun playing the game. That's something people react too. In a hobby shop people often walk up and watch people playing Magic: TG or Warhammer, and while they don't really understand what's going on they can pick out generic themes and the fact that people are having fun. Everyone I've showed the trailer too has thought it looked awesome, although the pipe bomb is something that I have had to explain to all non-eve players. Overall it was a great video, and did it's job. It's not about getting bogged down in the details of the game, it's just people having fun doing whatever they enjoy.
