This is not entirely correct. The program you use to view any type of file can be bugged. An attacker that knows about the bug may be able to exploit the bug and cause it to execute code that is embedded in the image/mp3/whatever. It is hard, but far from impossible; it has been done many times. The most recent example is the WMF vulnerability, but there are many more. This is why keeping your system fully patched at all times is a very good idea.

You will need to go into the registry and delete the key that runs the file, plus delete the file itself. I could remote onto your PC and try and remove it if your not computer savvy.

Cr4ckers like to send the isk via as many legal accounts as possible, in order to delete any trace of where the isk is really going. But for anyone reading who do not know the ground floor basics of internet security, always do the following: Make sure that file extensions are shown. This is a stupid attempt of Windows trying to emulate a Mac. And I bet you dimes to donuts its the single leading cause of all virus and trojans spreading all over because some AOL user likes the purty graphics instead of checking the extension . And another thing to be leary of is if someone wants to share pictures with you, it better be in JPG/JPEG/BMP format. And if you get a RAR file and there are OTHER file types in there, delete right away. There should not be any other kind of file in the rar file if its only meant for pictures. If the sender says you need those files are whatever, tell him to go to hell.
