We will be closing the pre-orders after 4th of September and EVE: The Second Genesis will be coming to your favorite game retailer very soon.
I would like to personally thank you all for being a part of this wonderful experience, and I know that many of you will be pioneers in your local EVE CCG communities. I would also like to thank you for the patience that you have shown us and I promise you that the proper website, containing all the FAQ and rule clarifications that we owe to you guys, will be there in time.
Warm regards, Petur O. Thorarinsson Lead designer of EVE: The Second Genesis

At what point will the typoed cards be fixed?
Bomb threat, Ibis, War Tatoos, and starbase structures (they lack # on non-foils).
IE, are they already fixed and stores will have fixed cards, or will stores sell the typoed cards for awhile?
Sorry you can't afford a dev so you get me instead ^^ - Xorus |

What will the MSRP be for the decks and the booster boxes? -------------------------- Just here for the CCG. :) |

My source tells me that MSRP for a single booster pack is US$3.20, and a single starter pack is US$19.99. Do with that what you will.
P.S. If this information's supposed to be secret, please don't hurt me. I found it on the internets.

I take it the booster packs will be available through the Eve Online shop as well? I'm not aware of any of my favourite retailers selling the card game tbh...

Have you talked to them about it? My local hobby store wasn't planning on carrying the game until I told him how much I enjoyed playing it at GenCon and mentioned that I'd be trying to get more people to play. The owner's real problem was a lack of advertising, so I guess I kind of offered to be the advertising through word-of-mouth, and now he'll have cards on release.

Yes I have. At first they did not know what Eve Online was, then after I explained, they made enquiries with their suppliers. All to no avail. The market for this game is really, really small, and moreover, it is very thinly spread. I can't blame my game store, in fact, they make a sound business decision.

I highly doubt CCP is only hoping to sell the EVE CCG to people that already play the online game. I mean, sure, it gives them a pre-established fanbase that's more likely to at least give the game a shot, but I really don't think they'd have gone through the trouble of producing a CCG if they hadn't planned on selling it to people.
How they'll sell it, of course, is a question that remains somewhat unanswered. They did a great job at GenCon; now it's a matter of getting other people to buy into the game.

One can always hope. However, between hope and reality, I don't think it's likely that this card game will supply a large player market.
Apart from some gaming convention in america, I've not seen any marketing done on this side of the pond.
For example, I've not seen any indication that CCP will promote their game at the Spielemesse next month in Essen. The Spielemesse is a massive gaming convention in Europe, and would be a good opportunity to make the game known over here.

I strongly beleive the game will be a success. We done organized play for many CCG's and we beleive the product is solid with plenty of potential.

I've said it once and I'll say it again.
I've been playing CCGs practically since Magic was invented, and after Magic (which no game really comes close to in sheer technical perfection), Eve is the second best CCG I've seen (the typos and rules holes will get sorted in time).
In the other important respects of a good game - Playability and Fun - I'd put Eve:TSG first above all others.
This game will go far, and I'm really looking forward to it :)

Whilst we're on this topic, neither of the two major distributors in the UK have even heard of the Eve CCG :/ Is there any information out there yet for stores at all? Release dates, pricing, et al?

A friend of mine who runs an online SciFi merch store has been trying to find out who and where the distribution is coming from for the UK so he can get stocks.
So far he contacted CCP, who said contact the printer as they distribute, Printer then said 'We dont Distribute, we only send to Iceland'.. You see the Catch22 here..
Would be good if he could get an answer so he can prep for sales. ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

Hi,
Thats very odd, make sure to check again because Esdevium distributes EVE: The Second Genesis in the UK. Tell your sales rep that PSI distributes this to Esdevium and he needs to check closer, Esdevium payed us a visit at GenCon;)

Thanks for the info Brokkur, I'll make sure we get hold of the stock for the release date. If we still have trouble getting hold of the stock through the UK distributor is there an address I can get hold of you on?
As long as we get stock scifivault.com will be stocking both Hobby boxes, booster packs and single cards. (Obvious plug there ) ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

It would be a great service to us, the general playing public if CCP could do us a favour:
Get the people who distribute the game to supply a list of stores where the game will be sold and post it on the ccg website.
Knowing where you can go to buy and trade cards with other possible eve-ccg players would make me a happy lemming. ----------------------------------

And for Italian distributor? I'm an official demonstrator for Steve Jackson Games and for Atlas Games and i'd like to run some demos of this game. Could you tell me more about the european spread of the cards?

they would need to, atleast for the US, make it sortable by state. I'm not sure just how wide Whitewolf distributes, but There's easily half a dozen hobby shops just within 30min of me that sell CCGs, altho 3 of them had no idea what EVE or Whitewolf were.

Zack (AgentZero) is working on that now. It also sounds like there will be a player registry eventually too.

Uh... please don't frequent a store that has never heard of White Wolf. They are one of the major RPG producers of the last 20 years (Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling, Mummy, Wraith, Mage, Street Fighter, along with the Vampire and Werewolf CCG...) and pretty much THE defining LARP company. -------------------------- Just here for the CCG. :) |

Yes, there will be both player and retailer databases available for free on the CCG site, which should be live in a few days. Said resources are still being built, but it shan't be long before they're ready to go, too.
Also, I'm not sure how Second Genesis came to be associated so strongly with White Wolf, but they're not really involved with the game. Yes, WW and PSI are in the same city and work closley together, but they're not the same company. CCP is working with PSI to distribute, so they, not White Wolf, are the companies to bring up with your local store (or distributor, if you are the local store). That said, I do have to wonder about a gaming store that hasn't heard of White Wolf. --- Zack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator CCP Games |
