I Agree this would be cool until the systems started changing names ... then it would become a pain in the ass. |

I suggested this long ago when I posted Sovereignty 2.0. ________________________________________ ~Fleet Admiral Thor Xian, Strategic Commander

Well, this looks like a good idea too. Have the systems revert to the old alphanumerical state when someone looses Sovereignity, and only allow renaming them once after they are reaching Sovereignity level 3 or 4... Region names however should be kept...

No. It will change system name too often and raise problem which should be avoided as possible. System name should be kept intact until new corporation/alliance get rights to rename this one exact system.
In example, constellasion CON have systems S1, S2, S3.
Some corp Alfa get into constellation, gain control over S1 and S2, proclaim S1 as capital and raise sovereignity to constellation level, then get Sov.4 in S1 and rename it to "S1 Alfa Base".
Some time later, they get a competitor, Bravo team, wich place their base in S3, destroy installations and capture outposts in S2 and get his own Sov.4 in S2. They use his rights to rename capital to "S2 Alfa Grave", but they not have rights to rename S1 or S3 and they both keeps his names. S3 keeps his starter name, and S1 keeps his "Alfa Base" suffix.
As You can see, it have one side-effect. This system "keeps tracking" of constellation history.
In future, I wish that CCP will place landmarks with constellation history in every constellation which have systems with name changed more than one time. -- . |
