Have a long skill in queue and don't download the patch right away if you don't have to: because it's always nice finding out from someone else that the patch deletes your boot.ini or requires a complete reinstall or any such thing like that.
Also, what is an expansion that's being released on time doing in my Eve Online? It doesn't belong here. Get rid of it, TIA

Then it hit me ...

I remember when that happened because i laughed at the XP users who were affected as Vista never had a requirement for boot.ini and neither does windows 7, so it was just the old peeps who got it and i lolled |

Please tell me - does it mean that if I have a skill in queue when the server goes down for say, 1 hour - and then when server comes back, that 1 hour that the server has been down is as-good as having trained the skill for an hour ? Or when server comes back up, does that mean the one hour never counted towards your skill in queue ?
Very curious to know. Thanks in advance. o/

Write down the current time of the day, on a sheet of paper.
That's your skill queue.
Now, below that, write down the current time plus one hour.
Set your alarm clock to this moment and wait one hour.
The bell rings, the skill is done, your skill queue is now empty.
The server doesn't count seconds, (that would be really stupid)
it just calculates the time-frame and sets an event that gets triggered
at the moment a skill is finished. |

But...but...if you don't login within a day you don't get the shiny new limited issue hardwiring which gives you +3 perception and other shin stuff!
Boot.ini for everyone!
EDIT: It seems as though boot.ini is no longer present on Windows 7. That means nothing can possibly go wrong! |

Windows XP doesn't really need it either if the BIOS is written properly.
I was running XP when the boot.ini fiasco happened and when I booted up my PC after the patch all I got was a warning after POST that boot.ini was missing and it continued booting up as normal. I can't remember what mobo it was but it was either an ASRock or MSI one.

Nah, it looks like they''ll be using the SISI bld 321215.
Already downloaded the 1.2GB-ish patch and got it running fine.
Even if they updated the bld number on Tue, it'll just be a minor download - not the main chunk.
For those that don't know, the SISI bld will mirror TQ for *major* patch days like an expansion.
That means, if you already had SISI running, you just need to copy the files over from your SISI folder to your TQ folder.
You can then either run it "as is" (and hope the auto-update will handle any minor inconsistencies) or run the repair tool (which sometimes isn't fully up to date).
Bottomline, it saves you the time (not having to re-download a massive data chunk) and be one of the first few persons to log in first after patch.
I know indy folks are just salivating over those BPOs, and the first few who builds from them can gouge the price - at least for the first few hrs

Because of all the good things in this expansion i got paranoid 2 weeks ago and started large Projectiles V.... that way i had a buffer before the release as well!!!!!
