The rules for this game are as follows. The starter says a phrase from any game, be it console or PC, and the next person names the source of that phrase, and says one of their own. No googling.

Marathon came before Halo. Way before Halo (marathon can be played on a 25Mhz 68040 CPU.. and 8MB RAM..) Speculations say The Pillar of Automn is, indeed, the Marathon, renamed by Durandal.. only speculations. I do remember Durandal renamed a ship somewhere in the storyline but that is too far away for my memory to remember accurately :( sorries.

If going to a monastary filled with ****'s, fighting through them and collecting powerups that turn you into a dog/make you bouncy/fly, while eating porridge to instantly restore health is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

and a classic: (no prizes for guessing the answer though sorry, too easy)

and some of my favourites:
"incoming enemy" Starfox in the SNES
"Denied!" Quake3 if someone just beat you to the powerup
"Can I have some shoes?" GLA workers in C&C Generals
"She thinks this is a game" Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
and any speach from the audio logs in System Shock 2, the best voice acting in any game ever imo (damn, I really need to play through this game again!).
Some of the made up speach in the original Sims game was quite hilarious, I watched a making of video of this once and was so funny to see the voice actors just sitting there talking complete crap (or 'nonsense' if the forums dont like the word 'crap') lol.

Marathon kicked ass! We'd play DM and team DM in my school's computer lab years ago. It was great fun, especially when we overloaded the game and you could only see some of your enemies. Nothing like hearing someone yell, "Who the **** is shooting me? There's nobody there!" Good times.
