My alt hasn't gotten any yet, can't afford to lose ship/clones atm. But, I think I would keeping killmails because there isn't any "score" or central board for PvP stats and what-have-you, so will be keeping track for myself.
I've been killed a few times, tis low sec, if you don't want the risk of dying, don't go. I know it'll happen again, but it was my choice to head out there so I can't really be mad at them for doing it. Only myself for getting caught with my pants down.

Call me a wierdo, but I don't mind getting podded by a good pirate.
I learn stuff from watching them kill me.
One day, I'd like to be half as good as some of the people that have podded me.
Oh, and to the sore loser: Sh*t happens, get over it, you're insured.

I and a few of my Corp mates love our killboard, why because will love posting our kills. I will gladly take on a battleship or two; I will even take out pods in empire just to help other players get into a brand new pod. Almost every day I get convo from players that ask, “why did you do that. So I will try and explain.
Sometimes if I am out numbered or out gunned I will go into a fight knowing that I will not receive any goodies from the can or by ransoming. That does not matter because once I have made my kill and are lining up to warp out I will blow the can knowing that the only reward I need to see is the one that is flashing in my eve mail box.
So for me there are four reasons why I love to kill,
1) The kill mails 2) The killboards 3) Trying to beat my fellow Corp mates on the kill boards. 4) Knowing that some person in this world is jumping up and down shouting at their monitor why did he do that.
So there you go, these are my reason for wanting to kill other players, if they got rid of the kill mail system, then the game would be boring to me. So do you love or hate kill mails and kill boards, are you a carebear that really hates them or are you a killer who loves them, let me know so I know I am not the only evil/mad player in eve.
Can I quickly just say to the players that went to the eve convention in London your all awesome:) especial the bar maids lol.

I'm a big fan of killing everyeone I can, whenver I can, but I'm not a fan of killboards at all.
They've made people so stat crazy that it's rare to find people ransoming others, and it seems that the people who ransom end up killing the people anyway just for the killmail.

Much less do people state that the ones that kill in battlefield are psychomaniacs (new word?) who beat litle babies IRL. So why do it here.
seriously.. think
A kill in eve is "worth" alot more than a kill in any fps shooter.
...
I personally do it becasue i love the explosions, my mail box flashing, the thrill, because of the potentially good loot and so on.

That quite contradicts your claim that you're not hurting people but just playing a game.
The reason people kill other people is because they're sadistic little bullies or plain psychopaths that IMO should be locked away. Too bad there's no such thing as prisons, penal colonies or mental insitutions in Eve and madmen and criminals are allowed to get away with every little stunt scott free.
no not at all, Most pirates and killers in EvE are gimps IRL scared to even stand up to mum when she cooks them something they dont like, Let alone commit a crime, these people are even scared to commit petty crime irl, dont kid yourself.
Im both a mum ... and I cook

uhm ...
i kill mostly for the fun of the hunt ... i only fly interceptors ...
i keep kill/lossmails from a ceptor 1v1 like a little treasure (to remind me on the rush after the fight) i like hunting pods and shuttles ... not because they are easy to kill - but because they are hard to catch ... nothing makes you feel better than podding a loudmouthed noobalt in a chokepoint with a ship that has a optimal range of 1km the rest of the kills are mostly for the loot/fun on voicecom
though i have to say - i don't like killboards with a ranking ... it's allmost impossible to resist not to compare your stats with someone else if you got the data on a silverplate.
so nerf killboards ___________________

I think I can help some of you people. First of all PvP in eve isnt that great. Try "Quake", or "C.O.D" or possibly "Half-life 2". That should get your blood boiling. I mean after all theres no chance in EVE of being bested by a 10 yr old hopped up on snickers bars. 9 out of 10 people you blow up in EVE werent looking for a fight and hence are easy pickings....and your cutting your own throats anyways cause easy mining = cheaper minerals= less expensive ships.
So there you big bad bully's

Killboards are a way to measure personal and corp performance. It gives you goals to strive for, and will help point to your weaknesses.
A properly maintained killboard is the closest thing a PvP'er can get to an objective asessment of their performance.
I like seeing the numbers so I know when I've got to rethink my tactics, or when its time to work corp tactics. It's also a great way to filter out inactive players and spies...who tend not to participate in kills.
I'd love a ccp killboard. Simply because it would eliminate a ton of speculative posting and bragging on the forums. I'm pretty sure it will never happen though.

if the only reason to compete is a number on a killboard - then yes - it's bad ___________________

i genraly stear away from killboard unless its to rank a war ect. I do like to kill for fun, i do enjoy the fool going crazy in local over the loss of his caracal(ive met some of my best friends in eve in the wake of battle) but i do not do it for fame ect infact i keep most of my kills personal.
And to a point i can see how some people belive killboards are "killing the game" in my eyes eves not suposted to be a frag fest its suposted to be PVP not P V Noob but the way ccp has the game laid out if you dont like it, its not hard to avoid.
so in the end i think its just each to his own , EVEs a very big place if you dont want to do something then you dont have to.
