At last, an update to EVE Probe. We have more things in the pipes, but we felt we were way overdue in updating.
Here's the latest installer:
http://files.eveprobe.ccpgames.com/eveprobe-0.84.9963.0.msi
GÇóWe've added one new scene, with new asteroid debris fields. GÇóAll ships are now rendered with physically based rendering, resulting in even more beautiful ships. GÇóEVE Probe now runs on Windows XP GÇóFixed an issue with running on a fresh install of Windows 8.1

2560x1080 I guess those effects need some massive fillrate, especially at higher resolutions. They are on our radar for an overhaul, especially from a performance perspective.

and did the devs who made the new asteroid belts see the Limit Theory Dev updates on youtube? ;) Yes, at some point I'll get around to writing a dev blog...
As for the second question - I don't know - I'll ask!

The improvements to the asteroid belts will be documented in a dev blog before their release early next year. The probe scene will also be updated soon with a more up to date version of the effect which will include more atmospheric effects.
I have been following the LT progress, as well as every other space game out there but won-¦t comment anything more on them .

GÇóEVE Probe now runs on Windows XP
I realize there may be a large number of people still using Windows XP. However, it's been out of security support for more than 6 months. The operating system itself, is fundamentally a giant backdoor/ Why support it in any way when the operating system vendor doesn't even support it anymore? Seems counterproductive to continue to develop for, and enable use of an operating system which exposes user's accounts to countless risks. (And no, firewalls, anti-virus, etc, cannot protect an OS that is fundamentally insecure. Simply connecting XP to the internet and browsing the web with it are significant risks with no viable mitigation) We still have enough subscribers we'd rather not abandon using XP to warrant keeping it running, and this also turned out to be a very minor issue to fix.

You support XP but no love for OSX?? /sadface We run on OSX emulating Windows XP so this was actually a significant step in getting EVE Probe to run on the Mac.
