With the Rhea release we will see an interesting (experimental) new star map.
The main features of this new opt-in starmap are
- Seamless zoom from universe scale down to solar system scale
- Display in a window that can be resized, moved around and docked at the sides of the screen
- Grouping of stars in constellations and regions
- Performance improvements
- Continued development beyond Rhea
- To use this new map after Rhea, you first need to active this feature in the ESC menu under General settings.
Discover more details and pictures about this new star map in CCP Rise' latest dev blog Starmap Improvements - A Map To Treasure.
We welcome your feedback and suggestions on which features you would like to see next in the new star map!

I assume that it still runs inside the same window (as far as the Windows window manager is concerned) as Eve? So for it to run on a second monitor I need to stretch the Eve window over 2 monitors? Or is it a separate window?
Yes, same window as eve, you would need to stretch the eve window to two monitors.

Defier Orilis wrote:Are you guys removing the F11 key side screen panel (i rarely used it anyway) then and replacing it with the floating new map as F11 key shortcut?
Yes, eventually we hope to remove it since the new map should better cover the same functions.

Keep your ideas for map information and functionality coming. It's really important to bear in mind that this is an early opt-in alternative to the existing map that will have a lot of functionality added in as we build it up over the coming releases.
But please do tell us what is important to you in an in-client map, both for 3d and 2d modes.

Hey all
Was out for the weekend, sorry I haven't been in the thread since last week There's so much great feedback here that I'm not going to go through and respond to all of it now. Instead, we're just going to start organizing and implementing a lot of it.
Look for lots of change coming over the next couple weeks and thanks so much for helping guide us in the right direction.

Murkar Omaristos wrote: 1) One other VERY BIG issue that I would like to point out is that using right click to drag the map around does not work!
2) The map rotation speed is still slower than the old one so it feels sluggish and not easy to move around.
1. This is intended, at least for now. Right-click-panning the map was causing some issues so it has been disabled for now. We want to see how players feel about not manually panning but rather clicking on stars to center on them to pan. We will continue to make experiments like this while the new map is still in beta.
2. I'll pass this on to the team. |

We are absolutely working on getting the right-click-panning feature back into the map once we have fixed it :) |

Proteus Smith wrote:I have run into a minor issue in the new map. When hovering over a star in order to get system stats, it is hard to read the information due to the mouse being right on top of the first 2-3 characters of the top line of text. This forces me to click on the system in order to read the info without my mouse needing to be right on top of it. Perhaps instead of having the information appear below and to the right of the targeted item, it appears above and to the left of it? Just a suggestion. If I'm missing a quick fix to this please let me know.
Good catch, we will work on improving this. |

Hello everyone!
Once again thanks for all the great feedback. All suggestions and feedback from this thread has been forwarded to the team and will be considered for upcoming releases.
With tomorrow's release, we will be reaching near feature parity with the old map. We are therefore starting a new forum thread for feedback and suggestions post Scylla.
See you there! |

Hey, could you please file an in-game bug report on this, with some screenshots? |
