Ah Bards Tale
I still remember my 'exploit' I found in that game some 20+ years later. There was a room in the castle with like 99 or 999 or guards in it. If you had 3 sorcerers with mindblast they could kill them all if they managed to cast first. Think of it as a smartbombing BS in a frigate swarm.
So the trick would be to take a new level 1 and presto you would be level 14 after they were all dead.
Oh and I could never play a healer in any MMPOG because you could only save people from their own stupidity for so long.

Bards were truely gods in Bards Tale. I remember the various horns and songs you could use.
You could tear sh*t up hard-core.

Oh mate that was a classic and brought back some memories. I played Bard's Tale on a Spectrum 48k. I rolled a Bard in Baldur's Gate and decided to re-roll as a mage after a few map sites. Never looked back.
I know a guy in Eve who RPed a bard really well on a Neverwinter Nights persistant server. Impressed the GMs so much they helped him RP his way into breaking into the local mage guild hall. After challanging the grand master's familiar to a fight, and somehow winning, he was made an honorary member.
Of course he almost never got any kills so I don't think he got past level 5 which sucked. Still, we had fun in the local tavern. Him recounting tales of heroic deeds and handing out buffs while myself as Eddie Watchdodger (Halfling cat burgler and cutpurse) worked the crowd and help mesself to the contents of their pockets. Ah yes, then number of times I'd get caught out and have to run and lock myself in the latrines before making my escape through the sewers with a squad of angry paladins trying to keep up in full plate armour. Fun times.
Bards do suck though. Great OP. Damn I'm tempted to install Neverwinter again.

Dear OP, you should have played a Bard in FFXI...
Bard was so overpowered in that game that even the worst n00b Bard would be more useful than any other job so they got partys all the time...
Unfortunately, it meant that 99% of the Bards in the game were complete idiots with no idea how to play the job right!  I was the best Bard on my server but I was surrounded by so many n00b Bards all the time everywhere I went...  It's what caused me to quit and come back to EVE and decide to never play another PvE game again!

In UO a grandmaster bard was damn near invinceable(sp?). I never minded playing that character.
Sadly my character is now more useful for his gang abilities then fighting with his midsize ship (read: cyclone/command).
P.S. I played bard's tale. Great game.

as someone who played a (slightly insane) EQ chanter for the better part of 6yrs
shut up, start twisting, and keep pulling!
(bards were awsome chain pulling 2s and 3s)
but I could count one 1 hand the number of good bards i'd trust to pull for me any time, any place
than again, I was on Rallos Zek, only time we had a population more than the blue servers was after the Zek merge and during the (*censored with a 10 minute long beep*) Project-M

I just realised. I HAVE already been kiting. When I took my Muninn into the 4/10 BloodRaiders complexes I was soloing by flying in a 70km circle whilst taking potshots at the 30-40 angry cruisers chasing me.
