i currently have 100mil... the most ive ever had is 500mil..
if you have the patience to minelike mad or do production you make more isk...

When I've personally put outposts in every system on the outside, with a fleet headed by a titan in each system and there's no more uncharted space being added then I've had my fill of isk, till then no amount is too much.

These inflation/ISK threads seem to posted quite so often. This time, instead of prose some random thoughs:
- T1/mineral market is mostly fixed by CCP; global economy has little affect on it - It is easy to confuse hugely increased productivity to increased inflation - HAC prices increase (and T2 market partly) seem to be more due increased demand than inflation - Officer items, characters or GTCs might be good items for to spot excess of ISKs - CCP does want people feel they advancing; that they have more ISK than they had in the last month - More ISK sinks please

Even if there's too much money in this game due to 0.0 bounty rats and level 4 missions. You cant 'nerf' this as the only people that will really be hit will be the new guys that have no cash. Not the old people that already have a ton of cash.
Its a fact that the more money comes into a game, the higher the prices of an item will be. Just check some of the items, the small gistii shield booster is a good example. This item, when I started a few months ago, was 80-95m and it currently is up to 150m. Is this pure demand? Or is it that people just are 'easely' paying the 150m for it.

Any isk you have that is more than the amount I have is too much. Please send your excess isk to me to redress the balance.

Anything greater than that is too much. And no, it's not an arbitrary number I chose at random :D
(P.S.: I'm too new to the game to have a real opinion on it, so I thought I'd make a post in jest. One internents to whoever gets why I chose that number.)
Heh. Yeah, anything greater than that is too much for anyone, including the server. ;-)

I actually messed up my calculation by not taking decimals into account, but you understood what I was going for, at least. One internents to you, sir.

I think it's a matter of perspective.
I rarely have more than 100m isk at any given time. But I PVP and lose ships regularly. And I only spend as much time as needed to replace those ships and then get back onto the battlefield.
If there is "too much isk", it's coming from people that don't fight much. Instead they spend all their time hoarding isk.
Don't nerf ratting/mining/complexes. If you want to nerf missions, I don't care. ___________________________________________ The deeper you stick it in your vein, the deeper the thoughts there's no more pain. ___________________________________________

I have it on good authority that whiskey is an isk sink. Pilot passes out before docking and must replace their ship. Therefore, for the good of the Eve economy, we must all drink heavily. Those of legal age, of course.

Did anybody else see that the "dream come true" of 30k concurrent users has been reached?
Assuming a relatively static ratio of miners:PvPers:Mission runners:0.0 Ratters, the average cost of things is very stable.
The quantity of rare goods cannot keep up with the number of new players if, say complexes are only run twice each day whether there are 15k players or 30k players. That being the case, I'm honestly surprised that the prices haven't gone up more.
To the people who are saying that it's easier for them and their friends to get isk than before, that's kind of a no-brainer isn't it? If you have skills and ships that you couldn't fly before, of course you earn isk faster.
Besides, there are incoming ISK sinks in the form of faction wars that will destroy modules at an increased pace (presumably), the new escrow fees, and whatever else has been reserved for Kali and not told to us.
As hard as balancing an economy is, the Eve team do a fabulous job at it, and I applaud them. 'Balancing' things that do not need balancing is a swift way to ruin things, and any major change would certainly be more harm than good imo.

The problem is not so much in the amount of ISK, but rather in the way in which it is funnelled.
EVE's economy is very much lacking in self-balancing mechanisms. Instead, it is intrinsically self-unbalancing, with the more ISK you already have making it that much easier to generate ISK faster (T2 BPOs being the most repugnant example).
A self-balancing system would provide greater ISK sinks for more advanced play, thus keeping the cashflow more even. Sure, a more experienced player might generate greater ISK, but he'd also spend that ISK on comparably greater demands.
Such a system would allow old alliances still to be attacked financially (whereas right now, they simply cannot), which was one of the big stagnation gripes discussed in another thread. It would also keep the system more lively for new players, as old players would have had to spend their wealth to maintain current power.
So no, there isn't too much ISK. There are too many entrenched ways for people who already have it to make more of it trivially, and too few things to bleed that ISK away from them.

Edited by: Lynn Fang on 06/09/2006 20:28:18 - People being rich doesn't mean inflation. - More isk around doesn't necessarily mean inflation. - Inflation means, isk lose value, but they don't, except for items with limited supply like t2-items. Afaik the vagabond charts have shown that the price is rising linearly to the number of people, who can fly hacs. I wouldn't call it inflation and this will change in Kali.
That people are richer shows that the economy has been developing well and some people made a lot of isk. Btw. not all people are rich, most people I know are not. They usually have between 0 and a few hundred million isk. The wealth just isn't destributed equally. Some had luck (t2) and some just always try to increase their wallet. Their problem, if they don't know what to buy anymore. Why should my life become harder, just because some guys never stop grinding money ? I mean, in the real world, we don't destroy money or pay less loan, just because maybe people like Bill Gates don't know what to buy anymore.
But anyone, who thinks that there is too much isk in-game, can always buy some raven BPOs and trash them.

I'm a dim wit when it comes to economy topics, but... wouldn't it follow that the more players there are in game the more likely it is that prices will actually go down?
There's inherently more competition on the market the more players there are. And competing merchants generally try and undercut each other... Yes?
And even though the supply vs demand of the T2 market may jump on the demand side, the increased competition on the components side (lowering prices) should follow to the end T2 product I would think... or hope anyway.

Unfortunately it is not component cost that drives the price of T2 products, so this is completely incorrect. It is merely a function of supply (limited # of T2 BPOs) against increasing demand (# of people who play and have the skills and motivation to use the T2 items).
The T2 lottery is an unholy blight upon EVE. It is basically a government-mandated monopoly, with no possibility of said monopoly being broken as it is completely impossible for new production to be created.
My guess is that Kali may decrease T2 prices some by adding a bunch of BPCs (more supply = lower prices), but unless it actually introduces a means of creating BPOs (doubt it) then the original developer ****ation upon all EVE players who came thereafter will remain.

Hmmm-I was misquoted again.
It is alright to assume that more competition means lower prices, but at a certain point, the price stagnates and nobody will go lower because it's just not worth it. Since T1 production is unlimited (anybody can do it-literally), the prices have already stabilized at near bottom of the barrel and that's why they stay generally the same.
When prices on most (not all-most) items are generally stable and only occasionally vary (like the Centus X LAR recently, for example) the economy should not be messed with significantly, because it's more likely to create problems than it is to fix anything.

I know 3 of the richest people in Eve. All 3 of them are bored and have considered quitting in the last 2 months.
Too much isk = no challenge = boredom.
I like having a "halfway decent amount but not so much that it doesnt hurt a bit when I get my ass kicked".
