Edited by: Ona Otana on 03/12/2003 21:18:08 I've been using a cruiser mostly for agent missions and some minning ops... and i noticed that my mechanic skill started self training. It started from lvl2 and now it went a couple sp over lvl5... Then the hull upgrades started strating but it stopped half way to lvl5... I notice that some of my alts have started self trainig in other skills but i cant pinpoint the reasons :( but you suggestions r nice :)

Well I have experienced this with mechanic but with no other skill, true I wasn't looking for it but I'm sure we'll be all keeping our eyes open now. I was thinking of creating an alt and if all I have to do is buy the skill and then leave it as I train something else this would be advantageous indeed. Thanks for confirming my beliefs time for some experiments!!

Quote: I've notice this too especially on Afterburner skill.. i actually gained a level (1->2) just by using ab's all the time.
I've been doing the same, but no growth whatsoever... The only skill that has self-trained is Gallente Cruiser.

I notice the Gallente Indy skill raises when flying a lower level iteron. Should be the only reason flying them, though

I've gained 130000 mechanic points over 5 days but since the patch I have done lots of jumps and haven't gained one point. It seems free points are over. |

would be such a shame that you cant get better in a certain area by using that specific skill.
havent been able to test this so cant conclude it, but would really really miss this

Yeah just tested on changing mods after every min in dock and no extra skill points. They have killed this.

For those of you wondering about the characters that have large numbers of skill points so soon, it can be done purely through training.
I just passed 7.9 million SP. It's been 8 months from release, so that comes out to 22 SP per Minute - not a difficult target to reach even without implants.
The key to maximizing your SP is to concentrate on skills your character is good at and Max out your learning skills. This is especially easy to do if you have high Int/Mem. The downside is that early on, you have to 'invest' 1.5 million SP in learning. It takes about a year to make that up on other skills.
Even though you need to train those skills your 'bad' at sooner or later - later you'll probably have gotten better implants for those or trained them up through use.
