Who cares if it is 'claimed'? Go in anyway. It isn't their space. Learn how to defend yourself against the alliances (which is really easy) and you will be able to exploit the riches of all of EVE.
If people would care less about who claims a certain region, and care more about how they are going to deal with those people, EVE would be a better place.

"Then you think to small and lack ambition, thus you do not deserve 0.0 space in the first place.
Thread finished, lock please."
So says the *****, who sucks the teet of his big alliance. Anyone can suck the nut of a big alliance, imho you don't deserve to be in 0.0 Lord knows your puny corp wouldn;t stand a chance and you wouldn;t be saying jack if you weren;t able to toss the salad of your alliance to get your 0.0 safety....

Yeah somehow Joshua's map is misleading for newbies, seems like people think that because it's "claimed" it's 100% controled and you'll be instantly struck by divine power if you dare enter there. It's not too hard for a corp or an individual to settle in NPC 0.0, choose your station carefully and you'll be ok, there are still plenty of place where you can operate relatively safely if you're willing to learn. If you don't want to put any effort in it and hope you'll find a nice completely empty spot with arkonor , 10/10 complexe, a dozen lvl 4 agents then, no, you won't.

most Unoccupied areas are corridors. There are a few pockets of Unoccupied areas here and there alot of them are "out of the way". some have decent rats and decent ore.. Mostly Hemo, Hedb and Jaspet are the best.

This thread was sparked by a comments made on another thread, stating that if one did not ask permission to enter into someone else's space then one deserves to get blown up, coupled with the claim that all space in 0.0 was claimed. I am pleased to hear that his assertions were less than accurate.

just go there and do it ... if you prefer a peaceful approach (aka industrialist/miner/npcer) ask them BEFORE you enter the terretory (if it's non-npc space) ... if you prefer fight - do what you want
