This has happened to me a couple times quite recently when I lose my ship. I get an ungodly amount of lag when my ship explodes, and before I am even able to actually start clicking on stuff my pod is already locked and scrambled. How am I supposed to warp out if I can not even click on anything because of the atrocious lag. I have a good PC setup so it shouldn't be video lag Is there some secret to avoiding this, because I want to get some nice implants, but if I am unable to even warp out before someone can target me I am screwed because I solo PvP and often run into overwhelming odds which I am too stupid to avoid. I end up just jumping in and giving it a go.
Any help would be appreciated, no this isn't my main. Out of sheer embarrasment I would prefer not to mention his name.

Some people swear on clicking the cross on the top right corner of your screen once you are deep into structure, but i am pretty sure that's considered an exploit. It works though i heared. -------------- My dad can beat up your dad!

If you have the autopilot set for another gate, turning on auto is the surest way out.
Turn it off midwarp and warp somewhere safe when you arrive at the other gate.

I second this!
Logging off when you are gonna lose is lame. The way I see it, Log-off-Tactics are just as bad as buying ISK for RL cash, Because out-of-game tactics should not be able to affect in-game senarios.

Setup an overview that ONLY has planets on it. Name is aaaa or something so it sits right at the top of the list.
If your about to die then change to that over setting, select a random planet and just spam the "warp to" button on the top part of your overview.
The second your ship pops your pod will warp off. Uncatchable in empire and only catchable in 0.0 with bubbles. Or lag... -----

Eject before your ship goes boom. That's the easiest way to get your pod out, while he's still hammering on your ship. You still get your insurance payout.

Turn off the turrets and gun effects when you're in structure, and you'll have virtually no lag when you pop; that way you can hammer the warp button quicker. |

Turn all effects off, don't have your FPS graph on, have something selected and spam the "warp to" key while you're in the process of exploding. When i know i'm going down, if im at 25% armour and they're still sat at 80% shield for example, or if im at 50% structure, just hammer the warp to button. you get horirble lag as all the show info windows open, just your pod gets out

Spamming warp to button on a planet works for me. I lost alot of implants before I learned to do this. I have had my +4's for like 3 months now which is a record for implants for me.

Escaping in your pod despite the lag is not too hard just target a planet or something and click warp repeatedly when you are that close to destruction that way you get the warp command before the lag hits you and when the lag ends you are either just about to fly off or have flown off. -----------------------------------------------

while logging is lame as heck, it is NOT an out of game tactic.
problem with making log off a nono, is many lose connection for reasons beyound their control, isp, system hang, system reboot(happened to me a few times) and the oh so wonderful POS attacking warpin to find dozens of shuttles and frigates loaded full of BMS so as to cause lag in the attacking force...oh yes, that can cause one to log off, because they can't see a FFFFing thing nor get a response from the client due to the induced lag...but CCP likes you to use that exploit, or they would have banned the well known users of it.
Using an out of game tool to sync the login tactic, IS be all definitions, even CCP's, an exploit, CCP seems reluctant and blind as bats to see the pattern repeated over , and over, and over, and over, by the same well known users of exploits.

i wouldnt rely on autopilot to get your pod out like someone above mentioned, the one time i tried it i got podkilled.
eject a few seconds before your ships explodes, then hit autopilot or keep double clicking on a planet, or right click and get ready to hit warp to safespot as soon as you can

Like others have said, turn off mail and wallet blink, along with all other effects, then spam the warp to button. One thing that may cause a problem is the button becoming unavailable after you've ended up in the pod - in that case you need to QUICKLY click a planet or something then get back to the warp button. Works for me, nearly all of the time.

Yeah you'd be suprised how effective ejecting at the right moment is. by the time your almost dead they are usually too into getting the kill to try and retarget your pod.

When you know you're going to go down, zoom all the way out and Ctrl-Alt-E Ctrl-Alt-T to disable all effects. Then do what others said: select a planet in your overview (or SS BM in your P&P if you can get it loaded) and start mashing the warp button.
I've never lost a pod since I was taught to do this.
