Has anyone else who is with NTL in the UK had problems using this web site? I am pretty sure I know what the problem is but am unable to fix it 100%.
I can never access any of the secure content on this website and I get sent in a log-in loop, never successfully loging into myeve.eve-online.com. I CAN however log into my account info, as this is on a separate web server, if I remember correctly. So I cant post on forums or access and of the patch notes or dev blogs from home, I have to access it all from work.
Now I am 99% sure this is due to the way this website authenticates the users and my ISPÆs (NTHell) web cache, as if I use a proxy I can occasionally log into this site from home. I am sure I read somewhere about a year ago that the login server uses two servers and a web cache / or proxy can confuse it.
I was just wondering if any other users, NTL or otherwise, had the same issue, and if there are enough of us CCP may make changes to allow us to access the paid for content. Any seriously tech dudes here who may know a decent work around or even any info for NTL on how to fix this. Also donÆt check æremember meÆ or you get permanently stuck in a log-in loop which eventually crashes out the web browser.

Yes, I have this problem too! Can log in at work fine, but not at home on NTL. Would appreciate any solution/work around for this.

Right, I'm on ntl, I get the same thing however, I've kinda found a way around:
1) Load up the forums (dont need to log in to actually read them), and log in via the forums at the TOP option
2) Then you should be able to access the other sections.
I've found that unless I log into the forums first you get a big loop, also, when doing a bug report, if you're on ntl, you get a message saying they can't confirm your ip so you cant access all the areas, which is much fun.
Also, as a side note, ntl run there ip's in a really strange way, depending on where the server is, you'll often get a completely different ip than the one you've actually got, most often I find I can access my proper ntl one 86.xxx.xxx.xx (or similar) from the rest of england and europe, whereas elseware I seem to get a 60 something number (which is totally different from the one I can see I've got on my comp), which leads to much pain when trying to access things like rapidshare or sites which log by ip.

NTL use transparent proxy servers which is the cause of these problems.
The proxy does send standard information about the actual IP address of the client making the request. If some websites are reporting the wrong one then they are broken.

I experience the same problems too. Would be keen to hear of any other workarounds/solutions as I am blaming the same problem on why Character Manager, EMS and Eve Mon cannot retrieve my character details when using my NTL connection.

I'm on NTL also and I get the same problems. I've found that using the forum method works although I sometimes have to make several attempts before I actually log in I also had lots of problems using EVEMon until I started using version 1.1.2.181 from http://evemon.battleclinic.com and that seems to work fine |

Edited by: Emma Royd on 07/09/2006 15:16:08 Ah, so that's the problem :) I find that if I get stuck in a loop, I stop the page, go back, Log in again and it generally works.
As for evemon, I've got V1.1.2.181 EveMon from Battleclinic and that seems to work ok for now.
Biggest problem I have is accessing "my character" which usually means logging in through the forums first.
Another trick I've found is making sure it remembers you etc everytime and that seems to help to.

Edited by: brakespear on 08/09/2006 18:24:38 Yeah, accessing the bug reporting page states my IP has changed since I logged in, either due to someone hacking the account or ntl masking my IP, so it has to be down to the IP. Logging via ther forums as per buzzmong's suggestion seems to work better though :)

A fix would be nice, I have all the above snags but the workaround dosn't work around. Live Long And Prosper
