Last time we told you when the Fan Fest is and how to book your travel and the Fan Fest pass, now we have updated the Fan Fest 2006 page to let you know when it's time to compete, watch, listen and when to drink! Drinking is to be done when nothing else happens, although you are welcome to drink during most of the events as well. I know I will...
And for those of you who have not yet booked, hurry up!!

Originally by: Tyleritus Wrangler can you confirm that registration starts on teh thursday as i have booked with icelandair to fly from manchester yet they flight leaves on the friday!
10/11/2006 Manchester- Keflavik/441 FI 441 21:05 - 23:35 13/11/2006 Keflavik - Manchester/440 FI 440 17:30 - 20:05
and arrive at the end of the 1st day is this right!
Have they got there dates wrong?
After checking the booking page, I saw this:
Originally by: Icelandair booking page PLEASE NOTE : the price of ú299 per person includes 2 nights accommodation. However Manchester and Glasgow passengers may need to add extra nights at an additional cost, as these flights are not daily.
I am guessing that your flight times and dates are due to flights not being daily. My suggestion would be that you contact Icelandair customer service and try to sort it out with them, maybe try to get the departure changed to a different airport on the correct day? Please let us know if you have any problems when you tried doing that.
Originally by: Omak Topal This is probably a stupid question but, are the EVE Championship, EVE CCG Tournament and Roundtables all going to be at the same time? In other words do I have to choose to which one I want to be going to?
It'll be my first time at the fanfest :)
Hard to say without a more detailed schedule, but I think some of it will be at the same time. Last year we solved it by letting people have their friends play in their place. I think you should just wait and see when you get there to see how much you can participate in. Or get really good at multitasking.

If you click the first link in my original post you'll get to a thread I posted and stickied august 11th, and it was a sticky until I made this post today. That thread was announcing that you could now book the fan fest, this thread is announcing that the schedule was posted. I can post the announcements, I can not make you read them.

Originally by: Niccolado Starwalker The only stuppid mistake I did was to book my flight out from Iceland on the sunday the 12th of november. If I know myself I would really have needed that sunday for sleep, to recuperate after the party :/ oh well.
You can always contact Icelandair and see if you can extend your visit, I believe some people has done it in the past. It will cost extra for the night, and it might not work I guess, but worth a try if you want to. First FF the flight left early in the morning, ruined saturday night for me, so I made sure I took a later flight for the 2nd FF.

You would have to check the booking sites or contact Icelandair customer support for that information.

Computers will be provided for the tournament, you don't have to bring your own. In the past we have had computers available for fan fest participants to use, and I would imagine the same applies this year.
The Nordica has internet access in the rooms, I'm not sure if they have some for of wlan set up in the hotel but I think we might, though I'm not sure on that and I don't have any details right now. If you have a laptop, you should bring it. Even with some computers available for participants, there will probably be more people wanting to use them than computers available.

Originally by: Malthros Zenobia So is it possible to see what time the flight from Baltimore or New York would be without buying a ticket first?
This is probably as close as you get, tells you about what time of day you can expect to fly, arrive etc. For more information you will either have to contact Icelandair customer support or order the package.

At least parts of the fan fest will be at places where they serve alcohol, and legal age for drinking in Iceland is 20. However, you are allowed to be in places that serve alcohol if you're over 18. You could still come, if you only participate in the parts of the Fan Fest which is held in non drinking venues.

The age limit for being in a place that serves alcohol is 18 if I'm not completely mistaken, for drinking it's 20.

The FanFest pages have been updated, including some spiff new information about CCG and PvP tourney prizes, collectible autograph sessions, and more. More updates include the Schedule page and the Frequently Asked Questions.
If you haven't already, book your flight and buy your FanFest pass! See you at the top of the world!

All notebook owners rejoice, for there is wireless connection at the Nordica! We will also have a few computers there for those of you who get an sudden urge to change skill training. Though I would recommend taking your notebook with you if you have one, since there are many people attending the fan fest and not that many computers.

www.icetourist.is FAQ:
Quote: What about the electricity? Icelandic electrical standards are European (50Hz, 240 volts) so many North American electrical devices will require converts. Plugs are generally two-pin, so devices brought in from the UK and North America wil require adapters.
That site is good for other kinds of information as well.

Check your devices, you'll be supprised how many North American devices support 220V power and only need a converter.
Converters cost ten or fifteen bucks, a transformer to step the voltage down to the US standard will run alot more and might not even be needed.
I went last year and my laptop, electric shaver, Both cell phones and Ipod all supported 220, I just needed the converter to let my plugs work. Of course I picked up the wrong one at the store.
Oh well.

Doesn't really matter if it's 220V, 230V or 240V. The standard (mostly) in Europe these days is 230/400V, but that is just an average, it can be as much as 10V over that. So if your stuff handles around 230V, it will be fine.

Originally by: Deacon Pride But if I know Kieron right, he will place all shows and lectures less then 5 steps away from the bar.
I haven't exactly sworn off liquor, but I will not be taking things quite to the level of the Gencon party. I haven't heard of a cybernetic liver having been developed, yet.
The Fanfest is being held at the Nordica hotel, I am going to guess the round table rooms are going to be seperate from the bar area by a little bit.

Originally by: Therem Harth I don't know if it's by design or not, but fanfest packages are no longer on Icelandair website(s), the "form to contact Icelandair travel agents" has been assuring me that "personnel has been notified" about Error 500 it generates on submit, for about a month now, and it is not possible to reach Icelandair reservation phone in Sweden from abroad, at least if you want anything else except listening to Swedish-only recorded announcements :( email to Icelandair gets replied with a week's delay saying "please call reservation agents".
Can some kind soul (kieron? Wrangler?) clarify some simple things here maybe?
- is Icelandair package deal from Stockholm still on? - are the Loftleindir (sp?) and Nordica full up or there are still rooms? - what are the alternative suggested hotels/whatever accomodation, if any, if my friends and I have to go book everything separately and not via Icelandair?
Many thanks in advance
I've sent an email asking about it, hopefully I should have an answer after the weekend.
