I have an intense interest in frig/destroyer limited wormholes. I was wondering if anyone has found them and what their experience with them are?
Since there is no moons there is no pos's which means no where is particularly safe but you could in theory live out of a mobile depot. Is this viable? |

I found one. Went in there to gaze upon some ice fields (they are HUUUUGE!). Then I left again because, frankly, meah frigates |

We just found a shattered wormhole last night. Since none of us had ever seen one and had no idea what they did, we immediately formed up in Lazerhawk's newbro destroyer doctorine (Lazyhawks) and headed out. When we started to jump in, our Augorors let us know it was a frig hole. Woops vOv
We started bouncing around and looking at the big broken planets. We shot up the Epicenter, which is this weird construct at the sun that has violent wormholes that you can't go through. After figuring out we were able to dunk on the sleepers even without Augoror support, we said **** it and started warping to combat sites. The next fifteen minutes was just us laughing our asses off as we blew every sleeper nerd in that system off the face of the universe without losing a single Lazyhawk Catalyst.
We bounced around, discussed some lore things, pointed out the weird stuff at the epicenter and of course we shot the violent wormholes. It was a very COF night. No idea what we were doing, not sure if we actually accomplished anything but it didn't matter because good times were had.

whenever i find a frig hole i do what i always do. BM it as 'Frig', dont jump it, move on.

they plan to release in not long future ice mining lasers for prospect/venture so be patient. we will be able to mine them |

Huh, that is kinda silly. Either someone at CCP was sleeping when designing these, or basic ice harvesting modules are coming for the mining frigates :D

We agreed about frigate holes in the previous thread, but I am reversing my stance towards frigate holes when they are Shattered Systems. Those C6 Wolf Rayet bonuses are just too crazy to pass by.
We cleared the sites off of one of these (had C3 sites) today, and I have never had as much fun in PvE. We took our standard PvP Assault Frigates in and just blitzed trough the sleepers with not a care in the world.
I like it when I can do my carebearing in the same ship I use for harvesting corpses. |

Ice works differently than ore. Ice miners are strip miners, and thus only fit on barges/exhumers, and each cycle produces one ice chunk with bonuses reducing time rather than increasing yield.
Hopefully, at some point, they change ice to work like ore, so we can have ice mining turrets that we can put on Ventures/Prospect or other, random ships.

On a side note, do the Wolf Rayet effects affect small drones? (as in if I run across one of these in an astero, will it be of any use?)
I am guessing no, but want to verify. |

Nope. Amusingly, the bonuses DO work on rapid light missile launchers, which creates some fairly interesting possibilities. |

As to ice in these systems, I think there is ice in every shattered wormhole (or most of them anyways), and IIRC only 25% of them are frig systems.
So, I wouldn't bet on getting ice miners for ORE frigs or whatnot. |

Some corp mates and I moved into one of them with a bunch of alts with mobile depots. Seems to have 3 statics with different static naming conventions: Letter 00 Number. For example C005. We got C2, C5, and nullsec statics. Living in there for 2 days I have seen literally no one that I did not invite in, not even scanner probes.
Ran a bunch of combat sites in my Wolf, you can literally speed tank 99% of the damage from cruisers and battleships and frigates evaporate because C6 wolf Rayet.
There are C6 gas sites present with 4 sleeper battleships that spawn in them. Yay nanoribbons.
It doesn't make sense to use them as a base of operations for raiding nullsec with frigates unfortunately as you can't have a POS to store fit ships which limits you to the ship you are currently in.
I am kinda disappointed that the frig holes don't have at least 1 static to other frig holes as frigates are fairly useless in normal wormholes for anything of value. You can do awesome stuff with frigates in these holes but once you leave you are fairly useless. |

Yes. I checked and armor is definitely doubled. However, I couldn't tell if shield resistances actually were halved from my fitting screen. It certainly didn't look like it, I will check again in a few hours. I definitely did notice the sleepers were having a tough time tracking me so I would say the half signature radius is in effect. The triple damage on small weapons is there as well. |

yes ice in all shattered holes including Thera. I brought up the issue of mining in the 25 frig only holes and after about a week of me poking ccp in various threads and twitter got a 'this is by design' reply.
So that indicates something in the works in the future that can mine it. My guess is either they are doing a mining revamp which includes changing the ice, or adding a new mining laser for ice that a venture can mine ice. Or possible a T3 frig that can ice mine, but who knows

I wonder the same thing. Yeah, a Venture/Prospect can go in but who the hell is gonna invest the time in scanning down a dangerous wh in order to get a very tiny amount of Ice that can be found in relatively safer space, null included, that has a place to dock and unload and go back out?
CCP astounds me sometimes at their lack of thinking things through. For every improvement (Jump Fatigue) there seems to be two brain sharts...
Like anyone who explores WHs is going to be anywhere near a mining frigate anyway.
"Oh, found a stupidly small WH that is more dangerous than a null system.. but hey, I can get a miniscule amount of ICE and haul it out of the hole... just need to go 30j out to get my mining frigate, brb..." - Nobody will say ever. |

when the compression array came i toght to myself .. a special ice mining laser for venture/prospect that insta compresses the ice .. ... but will be waiting to see what CCP will come up with :) |
