I have the skills to use Heavy missles, heavy assaults lights all at t2. Using a tengu what's the best missles platform for missions? |

Depends. HAMS offer better raw damage than the heavy missile counterpart, but at a cost of range. A HAM build will need to rely on ship maneuverability and the pilot's willingness to have moments where he/she may either be forced to fire on targets based on range or must patiently hold fire until a desired target is within range. Javelin missiles offer better range, but weaker firepower.
Heavy missiles offer much more convenience at the cost of top damage towards same-size and larger targets. They also fair a bit better engaging smaller threats like elite frigs. The ammo is over time a bit cheaper with respects to T2/Faction ammo since you end up spending fewer shots per target and quite a bit fewer shots per mission. Precision missiles lets you kill smaller threats faster, though the range is pretty sharply cut to compensate.
As luck would have it, you have the necessary skills for using either platforms. I'd say take an MTU, 6 launchers mounted and 6 of the other kind in cargo, and stacks of heavy and heavy-assault missiles (Mjolnir and Scourge are preferred), hit up a couple of missions and try both platforms out for yourself. Others can tell you the obvious differences between them, but nothing beats personal testing when trying to choose one weapon over the other. No one here but you can tell which of the two are more preferable if you have spent an equal amount of training on them. Both work excellently on a Tengu, but each for different reasons, rather than one is better than the other.
tl:dr HAMS = higher raw damage, less effective vs. smaller targets, range requires non-stationary piloting HMS = moderate raw damage, more precise missile damage, much better range
Try both, Tengus can use either pretty damn well. |

Actually, Javelin HAMs have slightly better application than precision HMLs and do substantially more DPS while only loosing 2km of range. HML Fury's have great range but only do a little more DPS per launcher and have terrible application against anything smaller than a BS.
Handy stats for scourge on a Tengu with an Accelerated Ejection Bay, perfect skills, and no other mods/rigs/implants or heat:
Type: DPS per launcher - explosion radius - explision velocity - max range
Javelin HAM: 53.2 DPS, 93.7m, 152m/s, 45.6km Precision HML: 42.9 DPS, 93.8m, 146m/s, 47.2km Fury HML: 57.8 DPS, 181m, 102m/s, 70.7km Rage HAM: 79.9 DPS, 161m, 131m/s, 25.2km
There is virtually no reason to ever use HMLs on a Tengu over Javelin HAMs unless you really really need the range. Which can easily be made up for by fitting an MWD and a Gravitational Capacitor. What little time you spend getting into range is made up for in travel time to and from the mission and faster kill times against all targets. You do however loose your sig tank, so you need to fit an actual tank and actually fly the ship. |

tank has never been a big concern for the tengu, with or without mwd, but the missile comparison is somewhat impractical, as most HAM tengus will usually have at least one bay thruster while HML can use a flare instead.
I should buy an Ishtar.

Since the range difference is so small you can just use a flare on both really. |

For straight up missioning, sometimes HMLs are better just due to the layout. But HAMs will always dish out the most damage. |

+1 for the info
+2 for naming a character after someone I'm (very) distantly related to in real life (Quanah Parker). |
