My cruise setup is thus: 6 x cruise launcher II, 2 x nos diminishing 1 x gist b-type sb 2 x gist b-type amp 3 x rat specific hardner / invuln II
2 x bcs II 2 x pds II 1 x internal force field
Assuming I can get it to fit would changing the 6 launchers and 1 of the amps for a t2 painter be the right way forward?
What tactics do you use during missions? Currently for cruise I aggro 1 group, take out the cruisers, take out the bs, leave the frigs along and go for the next group until the last groop is aggroed at which point I launch drones to start sweeping up the frigs.
Do you bother with t2 missiles for missions or stick with t1?
The painter: at what distance do you bother with it... i.e. a cruiser at 90km - do you just leave them alone until they get closer (60km, 30km ?) or send the missiles anyway?
Any other advice ;)

your fittings depend on your cpu more with torps, you really have to do without some things or go with expensive faction stuff. You may need to drop the boost amp down to a target painter just for cpu reasons.
Tactically I go for battlecruisers then battleships and let drones go for cruisers and frigs. I fire whenever a target is within range. It is not unusual to have 3 salvos in space if a target is beyond 50km, so you may need to switch fire before something pops to not waste ammo.

Torps are mainly worth it with T2 Javelin ammo, T1 torps suck too much against cruisers, travel too long and are very prone to die to defenders against some ships with high defender chances. But Jav torps and 1-2 painters are very worth it. Just ditch the boost amps (most overrated module in EVE anyway) and stuff painters in there. Gist XL, 2 (dg) invul + 1 specific hardener plus low-grade crystals will tank you through any mission. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! That's a bit richer than I can afford atm - just for the xl + dg invuln would add about 900m to the kit cost and then I'm still missing the lg crystal omega. Bah.
Interesing note about the jav torps; they're not cheap so how many does it generally take to kill off a cruiser with a single painter?

m8, check out my 'lp farming' thread in mission forum. You'll see on a standard raven setup that javs don't mean better mission speed, at least not with good cruise skills.
Maybe if you have top grade tank mods and pirate implants you can get some painters in there and improve, but unless you can do that then you won't notice much benefit.

TBH I don't see a problem with using T1 torps, you don't kill things that much slower than with T2 torps, and tbh, I dont think I've ever seen ANY NPc other than the final vengance guy, pop one of my torps with a defender.

I dropped using torps a while ago, it speeded up missions. Cruises do so much better vs cruisers it's rediculous. I havn't tried torps recently, but I remember having to use many vollys on the stupid things before they went boom.
Cruise missiles get that nice bonus from guided missile percision which helps a lot. Level 4 missions tend to have a lot of cruisers in it, and before I changed to cruises, my drones would keep pace with me when killing cruisers. (I'd turn all my lauchers on one, send all drones after another. Maybe I'm the only one that does that... )
Plus seige lauchers took up way too much CPU for me. It made it hard to get everything I wanted on there.
My advice, stick with Cruise.
