yes, lag, disconnects and node crashes are still there every day and can happen any time. it's horrible. i don't do lvl4s anymore because module lag of 20 seconds is too dangerous. in 0.0 you can get module lag of a couple of seconds even with like 10 people in the same spot. or lag-warping in to a gate three times and noone else there. or the frickin disconnects. nodes can crash with 100 ppl already... i find myself logging in less and less frequently recently. i'm just training some long skills.
adding more hardware is like adding a lane to a highway. the extra capacity is used up so fast that you run into the same traffic jams in like 2 years. a pvp game needs top performance. it's like playing quake with a ping of 500 where stuff doesn't move but warp around.
oh well i've posted nothing new, yea. it's sad that this is all known, been like that for weeks and months now. dragon was supposed to bring us "optimizations" yet it ****ed everything up. poo performance and lots of missions gone and to be replaced soon(tm). kali will bring more "optimizations". i'll set bs5 or bc5 just in case... who's next in line for a rant? :)
ps: oh i just lost connection while writing this post 4tl.

PCU has been around 25-30k recently so there is no sudden surge in new players that causes extra lag. ccp introduced jump queues and still hasn't got rid of them, there is a new load balancing system that came with the new asian character content patch, there was dragon that should have brought a load of optimizations, there was a hardware upgrade last week. and all the hotfixes that we don't know of that should fix stuff.
has anything changed in the last 2 months to a degree that you can actually die due to your own bad luck? while kali - content wise - looks awesome, all those "optimizations" that are announced are really scary. are they as much of an improvement as previous "optimizations"?
a pvp game needs top notch performance. i can't play quake with 500 ping and guess where my opponent will be in 5 seconds when my weapon will actually fire. with quake i can't lose anything at least. or i just join another server.
a corp mate sent a mail yesterday that he lost a faction fitted rapier and vaga because the screen suddenly started to freeze and things got very choppy. that was not in jita, but in 0.0. it wasn't a 150 vs 150 fleet battle either.
today i almost lost my mission raven that costs like 600m to replace. that's still a cheap setup compared to others, but i'm not a full time mission runner. i'm in carebearing mode atm between campaigns so obviously i can in no way replace such a loss right now. and why should i have to anyway. there's no way i can die in a mission without lag. it was angel extra bonus stage and the 15 second freeze got me down to 5% shields it was scary as crap as incoming dps is totally sick. was lucky that rats were just starting to pew pew and not at their optimal for full damage so i made it with 30% armor left...
if performance hasn't improved to a playable level by now i don't know when that should happen tbh. new hardware? how much new hardware is necessary to fix buggy code? when is the code gonna be fixed? who knows. there's just so much stuff that needs to be looked into.
very disappointing. it's the first time in a year that i prefer to play other games instead of logging on eve.

same thing happened today again. i can't reproduce it so i can't file a bug report and i don't know what causes it. this time i was at 38% structure... the screen updated every few seconds like it was lagging so i thought hmm lag spike, but shields look fine. then i thought "no way, shields can't stay that stable". switched to alt who was shield transferring and saw i was almost at no shields. closed eve and my ship started to warp out. damage control saved my ship yet again. i love those things.
i'm pretty sure the client gets out of sync because of something like a sudden spike in cpu usage on the node or a lag spike or similar stuff. the connection certainly isn't completely broken or the server would have really closed the session earlier and not exactly when i closed eve. hope this helps.
