Sitting in a Class 3 WH, in a T2 rigged Buzzard, max skills, sister launchers and probes and I can scan down anomalies to within 1AU @ 25%, and then they disappear....
Push the scan range back to 2AU and the anom is still not appearing, so back to 4AU and there it is again but now it's moved at least 5AU from where it first was. Probe it down to 2AU, get it to 26%, drop range to 1AU and take it to 45%, drop to 0.5AU and it's gone!!
No matter whether I use 4, 5, 6 or 8 probes, same result each time. Tried different anomalies, same result.
The changes to the scanning UI I can get used to (its damn annoying trying to select a probe and finding you are changing its range), not being able to easily centre on your target is also annoying, but I can get used to it. Not being able to probe anything out is ludicrous.

Haven't been out of the WH today (for obvious reasons).
Didn't see any other obvious posts either and haven't trolled through the boards and the endless whines about PI to pull this snippet of detail out. Guess some people have more time on their hands than me *L* |

Because it was in patch notes? And because it takes all of 30 seconds to figure it out if you ever do probing even semi-regularly even if you didn't read the patch notes? Seriously... I was probing, foudn the same issue, hadn't bothered reading patch notes and still figured it out...

The good thing about the internet is that it isn't hard to find a braying jackass. They are easy to spot since they always start off a paragraph with an insult.

What a fuckin worthless change this is.
You have to scan down to 25% to see what it is, but then the filter kicks in, so it's gone from the sig list, you can't r/click to ignore it.
Raise your scan distance, oh and there it is again, so you go from 4au to 2au scanning the same fuckin site over and over.
What's the point?
Not to mention that all my SIG ID are ABC-447, XYZ-447 etc |

So they unintentionally broke your filter. Get over it, spend the 2 seconds necessary fixing it. Tada, issue solved, stop moaning. All things concerned, I would much rather CCP messed up our filters then some of the other things that they usually do around patch time... like how they had to take the server down earlier because people were crashing jita by causing endless loops somehow. So stop whining or stop exploring - your choice.

It's not even a filter.
You get to 25% and it dissappears, ok thats great.
Lose that 25% scan strength (by moving on to the next sig) and the old sig comes back....
Again..what's the point?
It would be a filter if you could maintain 25%+ scan strength on all sigs. Good luck with that.
As soon as you drop under 25% the sig turns back into 'cosmic sig' thereby passing the filter. |

I don't get you folks.. nothing broke. They just added the ability to filter based on type. I guess maybe this has an effect when you use the deep space scanner probes? Can't tell though, because I can't use those.
The change to the Sig ID's is most likely just temporary.. I mean, sigs only exist untill DT, and then you get new randomized numbers. The 447 is current in every hole I enter.. And in most only the first letter has a difference. This should really be solved after DT since thats when the randomizer kicks in. |

I read the Patch Notes and didn't see anything mentioned about the scanning interface or 'Filters'.
Maybe I just got sidetracked by the notes about more loot in Mag sites, new DED sites and Faction modules being seeded into the game.
I read this Forum channel regularly and this is the first thread I've seen about this issue.
Doesn't really matter, point is when someone asks a legitimate question, they should get a factual answer, not a bunch of insults or EPEEN sarcastic replies. The 'General Discussion' forum channel is where that type of response is usually expected. |

Straight outta Compton:
Quote:Cosmic signatures may now be filtered according to type. This allows players doing exploration to easily sort Ladar, Gravimetric, Magnetometric, Radar and Unknown cosmic signatures in their system scanner results. Signatures which are still too weak to register their type will not be excluded from this filter regardless of their actual type. Source: http://www.eveonline.com/updates/patchnotes.asp |

Well, you used to do it through checking the boxes for Sigs/Ships/Anomalies in which you could filter out the anomalies if you were looking for WH's. It involved checkboxes then.. and it involves them now.. only issue folks are having, is that they were all unchecked after the Patch, so people start loosing the sigs as soon as you have a good enough strength to see what type it is. Whereas before they were all checked in the dropdown option "all" when you started out with scanning. And now they're all unchecked.. which is just an error of judgement I guess from CCP choosing to uncheck rather than check all the boxes. |

I rather like the change. However, the issue people are having is that the change makes it so the game assumes scanning with no filters checked means that you don't want to see any of those things you were previously scanning.
This is counter-intuitive UI. If I do not want to filter my results, the game shouldn't filter them all away for me once I start to get a bead on them.
A better way to handle it would have been for the client to have automatically checked all boxes and force players to deselect things they don't want to find, rather than having all boxes unchecked and force players to select the sigs they want to find. This would have preserved the original functionality of the probing system, while still allowing more savvy players to filter results as they pleased.
That said, I love these changes, and it only took about 30 seconds of irritation before I figured out the steps needed to fix it. Furthermore, I've set up a handy set of filters now which I hope will help me scan things down much faster and more efficiently. However, because of the mechanics of this, I foresee many new players to exploration getting really confused and asking tons of questions which could have been avoided. |

If (like me) you were using a filter that had just Anomalies and Signatures, you now need to change the filter and select each of the different types of signatures. The result if you don't is that your result disappears as soon as it's id'd.
Be nice if folks just said "try this" instead of the BS that goes on in here. Says more about them I suppose.
Could that be why I just can't seem to narrow down signatures at 0.5 AU and lower? |

Actually, these Forums are supposed to be a venue where Community members can share info, ask and answer questions if needed. Obviously a little common courtesy helps a lot more than demeaning sarcastic insults.
As for the rest of your posted reply, the 'Report' option is much closer and faster. Also does more DPS.
