I think that massive lag or unexpected server crashes should tricker free game time...
I would be a good way to compensate us players, who suffers with all the problems eve seems to be facing at the moment.
I know alot of other mmoprgs does this and I think it is only fair!

jesus christ. half the forums on general are about lag. just make 1 dam centralized post and put all your complaing their. do you realize that right now 12 member of the isd have commited suicide from stress and all the rabble rabble rabble posts?

Why are you complaining about "lag" when you freely give up hours upon hours of gaming time whilst asleep, at work, or school? Surely you should be whining about not having to pay for the times you're not playing.

No. People should learn to deal. Paying for a concert just to get stuck in traffic with all the otherconcertgoers and getting there 3 hours late doesnt get you a refund or free extra time after the concert, and neither should this.

I know there are times were I do not play put when i pay I should be able to play when i want!
It is like saying if you pay for cable TV or internet you would not care that is was not working when you needed it to, just as long it is working while your sleeping...
And watch up with the flameing it is just a suggestion...

your giving a poor example.
He's not getting to the concert late.
The concert doesnt have any working speakers and the lights are out. So it's a totally dark concert, and no one can hear the singing.
(If your going to give examples, make them a good one)..
And I dont think that people should get "free time" for random lag..

So you mean all the people whining about the WoW servers all being down after the recent patch and being told they weren't getting any recompense for three days' outage were given free time after all?

Don't they pay by the hour on the China server? Or is that a different game? I'm thinking of WoW aren't I?
I stand by my position that $130 for a year's entertainment is a suspiciously good deal.. much like a smack dealer's freebies.

World of warcraft, ultima online and shadowbane all compensate for loss of gametime, if the server is down a whole day for exemple they'll give a free day, they do not compensate lag however.

Late last month I was affected by WoW's european outages. I was not compensated and the forums were full of people quoting blizzard TOS saying nobody would be. It was 3 days before it was sorted out.

The forementioned games have all had extensive down time (that is more than 3 days of unstable server issues not allowing players to connect and play).
Eve has a total of maybe what? 27 hours max downtime with the Dev team working round the clock to get it fixed and up again (after Dragon code patch anyway)
I don't think we could ask anymore of the Dev team for their hardwork.
My question is if a game like WoW has so many subscribers etc why did their shards take 3 days to get online when the Dev's here at CCP can get theirs functioning again in a day in half and this server handles a whole lot more in regardess to what each individual WoW Shard wholes (4000 players per shard isn't it?)
Oh and lag will never be compensated as there are at LEAST 4 groups you can blame for lag and not one will own up to it.
1) Yourself
2) Your ISP
3) Your Backbone link to the rest of the world
4) CCP (well maybe ccp would own to lag if they were sure it was their problem)
But really, people talking about lag here. I don't understand Eve has always been the same quality of game as I have ever played it and I've never had any issues with it that hasn't been caused by myself or just the fact my pc is getting old.

WOW has done it for lag a few times , they have also dont it when its been something out of there control aswell, i remember back when i played wow one of the routers alot of people had to go through on the way to the server was broken for 2 days and they extended everyones account by 1 day.
im talking about WOW europe btw not the american servers.

However, the majority of people can connect and play, and only seem to have lag (or in the severe case disconnects). That is the majority, the people that cannot log in are not a majority, nor is it CCP's fault that they can login while others can. I agree with you that lag != reimbursement though, so i dont want to fight over examples with someone i agree with :p

I've recieved gametime, I've recieved double experience for a week, and most importantly I've recieved a PROMPT EXPLINATION of WTH is going on, and what was being done to rectify the situation.
What I have never recieved before is the sort of runaround that seems to infest EVE CS of late. When I envy the treatment I used to get from SOE there are issues.

I will make this a general comment, not targetted at anyone.
I read the forums and I see like 90% of the people complaining are from crowded systems.
If you go into the city and get stuck in rush hour traffic, you don't scream to the goverment I want my 15 mins back due to "laggy" traffic.
Oh as for the argument that you are paying for a service, drivers you pay road tax right?
No-one likes lag, and everyone wants it to magically end. Not that simple sadly!!

Lol, yeah i can see where your comming from with all these 'lag' posts and that they are all over the general discussion forums, i do think they should be kept as one single thread (or maybe 2 at most) 
[Rabble+Mode=ON]But maybe, just maybe if CCP did something about this then there wouldn't be so many threads, posts and whiners complaining about it (Delete and ban all bookmark thingies!!).
