Sitting at 2,568 hours in skyrim on steam.
And that is likely nothing compared to how many I spent playing morrowind back when I was younger.
The ES games are amazing by themselves, but it's the ability to mod them that makes them incredible. |

Only play teh Skyrim on the Xbox 360 here. I know you can mod the shizzle out of it like you could the prior releases, but Skyrim in particular was designed to be more console friendly than the others and as such that is the platform I use for it. I know it's limiting, but still many hundreds of hours of fun with it and many more to come.
That thing you just poasted? Yeah, that. That's the reason Ezwal always looks unhappy.

Okay, that is a special kind of awesome. Laziness factors in, as when it came out I had a gimpy machine that could handle little more than EVE. Over the decades I got tired of continually upgrading just so I could play the next game that came out, so I went for the console for the more graphically intense titles as I didn't need to keep slapping new hardware in. I did use to run modded Morrowind in the wayback, but mostly for the magical arrows and the medium armor fix.
That thing you just poasted? Yeah, that. That's the reason Ezwal always looks unhappy.

If you have problems with the executioner scene, the Live Another Life mod if perfect for you. Cuts out helgen entirely, with a small new quest to start the main story.
Waking up on a shipwreck in the middle of the sea, then realising with Frostfall on you're going to be half dead by the time you swim to shore really makes the game start awesome.
There are other mod sites as well out there, but nexus tends to be the best IMO, plus they are easy to install with the mod manager. There is another half decent site as well, but it tends towards the more adult and sexual mods. |

As an aside: I don't know how much common knowledge this is, but Skyrim op PC does not like monitor refresh rates above 60Hz.
I found this out when I got my nice and shiney 144Hz monitor and carts, horses, buckets and fish would start flying all over the place, even resulting in some npc death.
Also, having a "gadget" on the desktop can/will result in graphical glitches ingame. |

Love Skyrim to death. If I can make my character look like an awesome flaming horse riding Valkyrie in a game, I'm sold. |

Clearly you don't have enough mods.

Skyrim has a mainquest?
also, skyrim is still played because the modding community still pump out glorious stuff like ENB and 4k texture packs, and ever-so-perfected game overhauls.
think atm, people are managing to pull out vistas that border photorealism, or even real-life.
Hell, there's things like Frostfall and entire game maps like Wyrmstooth and Moonpath to Elsweyr that expand the game by quite the huge margin.
and those are just a tiny fraction of the tip of the iceberg.

This is why we need more easily modded games , they give the base game such a huge lifespan that even years after it came out it will still be a solid buy.
These days the only thing that interests me in gaming is mostly modding the crap out of everything!
