I'll tell you a little secret: this stuff used to be designed by actual fashion designers and they were doable in real life. Any professional dressmaker should be able to figure the patterns by seeing them. Anyway, leather patterning is a very specialyzed task and it's unlikely you can find, or afford, a tailor/dressmaker that could do those leather clothes for you.

but is there a way to get quality pictures of the clothing, I'd be interested in trying to make an outfit or two just to wear out an public to get looked at funny. Hell I'm 6'3" and 245# I get looked at funny anyway.

Uhm, yes.
Go windowed mode with borders.
Buy clothes, go into character modification stage.
Wear piece of clothes you want shots of.
Click onto your desktop and search for the option that let's you rotate it by 90 degree.
I believe there's an option like this on every desktop nowadays.
Rotate the screen and wait until the game refreshed itself.
Zoom as you like.
Make screenshots.
The reason *why* to rotate the screen is simply because in portrait mode,
the avatar covers way more pixels than in landscape mode.
Not sure this was what you wanted, though.

Hmmm , depending on where you live, any of those clothes could be easily replicated and tailor made. Just be ready to shell out top dollah though.
Fact is, I can have some of those clothes made for you if the price is right, in real fabrics of your choice too, even not readily available fabrics can be imported NP here to Panama.
I can give an approximate ETA of 6 Months IF my tailoring partners can make a duplicate of the design and then tailor them to your body specifications. These pieces would be created in Panama (I have a superb Tailor here plus family that works in the fashion design industry) and then the issue of delivering them to you would be the final but surmountable hurdle.

Not to totally hijack the thread, but I'd really like to see a few more options in the in-game store... particularly more A) military-style uniforms (there are so few), and B) dresses. I want to be pretty! But instead I'm stuck choosing between what looks like a 60's-era Star Trek knock-off in several different colors, some Bladerunner reject high-collar sets, a bunch of very masculine coats, and this big, dumpy turtleneck thing my character is currently wearing. |

Thank you. I worked on it for a long time. I wanted her to have somewhat rounder cheeks, since you don't see cherub-faced girls in EVE often.

Something like that. I endeavor to make my characters have an expression other than straight-faced determined, which is generally what most people (but not all) go for. I'm not trying to intimidate anyone with a character portrait; nobody is going to look at this character and go "whoa! What a bad***!" She's a person with emotions, and a lot of those emotions (when drifting through deep space) revolve around fear. |

Thank you so much! I frankly think one of the things that a lot of people don't do in the character creator is shorten the faces by pulling the eyes down, and the jaw, nose and mouth up. It strikes me that most of the faces I see in EVE are very long and narrow, and when you look around in the world, most people don't look like that (and many females have very child-like faces with full cheeks and slight jaw lines).
Honestly, I don't think a lot of people devote much time to worrying about the avatars (and, from a practical standpoint, why should they?), so it's not fair at all to criticize them over the choices made (besides, my asthetic ideal is going to be different from the next person's). The game is about the ships and not the little photos of ourselves. Still, I like my characters in all MMOs to look as close to how I imagine them, and I think this one was pretty darned close.
By the way, speaking of pictures, is it wrong that your avatar reminds me of the CG Kefka? |
