To CCP and whom it may concern!!
The last week has been horrible in regards to lag and slow servers. For those of us with PvP as main trade it has been more of a disgrace! :-(
It is with a heavy heart I read about new player-barriers broken. There is no point in letting the playerbase grow when immense lag is what awaits them.
http://www.eve-online.com/news/newsOfEve.asp?newsID=357
Having played this game a long time now, and might I add, paying my "bills" in time, every single time, I expect far more from CCP. When helping with the Beta, lag and server problems were OK because we were all there to help discover and remove them. Even after the first year, these problems were tolerable. Now however, the tables have turned and it is time for CCP to give us what our money pays for!
If you have to divide your dear tranquility into several clusters, remove bookies, or even let TomB have a bigger bat; well I dont care, just make this game playable again. Or you could of course make this game free to play until the issues are fixed!

The lag was fixed in febuary by adding more hardware but that only allowed more people to collect in a system like jita until it became a problem again.
For a solution read my post:

Thank you for your support ElGuapo. However, I expect an answer from CCP directly on this one; a far better answer than "Our servers went down, we are looking into the problem and sincerly apologize for the problem!". We (the playerbase) will fall for this only so many times..

It is getting to be impossible.
I have been trying to get online for the past 35 minutes. I made the mistake of logging out in Jita. At first I had a nice traffic advisory warning: Jita is full, you are #169 in the queue.
So I waited and waited. After the queue was gone, my screen has been stuck at "entering game as...." for the last 20 minutes.
This sucks! Please do something CCP.
Ron.

Sharding is a no no. The single universe is this game's unique selling point. They should just suspend new subscriptions till they get the new hardware.

I totally support kojak in this , i'm now in a low system but there a lot more people in station then in the local chat. every channel is lagged and bugged
and yes i also would se rather less people on the server then having to reach the 30k every time

Quote: If you have to divide your dear tranquility into several clusters,
I think this might be neccerary in the end, I have been playing WoW for awhile and this is exactlly what they have had to do with some servers to cope with lag. They have had to open new servers and have had so called migrations from servers that are full to new servers.
Also Dr.Kojak this is one of the most civil complaints about an issue that I have seen in a long time browsing various forums of the games I have played /signed

I support Dr Kojak completely. The lag is unbearable. CCP needs to get their stuff together. All points referred to in this post, I have had to deal with. Long log-in times, loosing ships to lag, then finally a month later, when it doesn't really matter, I get my ship back. This is rediculous. I want to get what I'm paying for, not what CCP is currently giving.
Dissapointment

the game is totally unplayable i dont know if its critical mass from new joining, or some terrible dragonpatch bug? but since around then things have just been spiraling until the point things are utterly unplayable... even in not so crowded systems last night it was taking me like a minute to transfer items out of a cargo can...(time should have been 1+lag...) also my modules would take like 20-60seconds to activate if i didnt just totally lag out for a minute or something...
as far as the jita thing i recommend people just totally avoid jita until a patch that claims to reduce lag...

I support Dr. Kojak all the way on this topic,
I've done quite a bit of business in Caldari space and though I want to get back to Jita, because of the lag I'm avoiding the system..
I'd personally prefer seeing a change.

Long time ago, in a far far galaxy.. another glorious game did fall mainly because of performance related issues-- Earth and Beyond by EA.
Alike EA, CCP designed the game for players to share the same universe. Although newer technologies and better design have allowed CCP to reach a much higher performance, all limitations of this model remain unresolved.
Consider what would happen if Sony EQII or Blizzard World of Warcraft would adopt the same 1-server-fit-all model, with a significant overlay of players sharing the same village space ū one on the top of the other.
I believe EVE has reached sufficient critical mass to evolve into several server universesłthe market will be sustainable even if there were several servers being enabled now. If not actions will be taken, the lag issues will be known in the MMORG user community, making the all game offering less compelling for new players to try and miserable gameplay for the existing subscription base.
I would recommend CCP to expedite plans to activate a new sever. I am confident the user community will understand both the short-term and the longer-term benefits.

Biggest rant I've ever seen... Yes, there's been a few problems the last few days, but I would hardly call it unplayable to the point that I'll quit. In fact, when the BM patch went live TQ worked better than what it has in years imo. And don't give us crap about sharding, if CCP decides to shard TQ I'll be the first one to desubscribe, and that's a promise! Oh and by the way, for spamming about this stupid thread in most (if not all) bigger chat channels in game and disturbing my blissful cruising you are not so popular in my eyes, sir.

Ohhhh, I'm shakin' I'm shakin'! Yet even you, a person of selvdesided utterly importance admits to the lag! Sharding may not be the solution we are looking for. The thing is that it is CCP that should come up with the answer. This isnt a beta-version anymore and we are paying good money for it. Thanx for your input Alex :-)
