Its not so much about whether its a direct threat or not. It's just the mechanics.
You either lead or you follow or you are irrelevant all together. Seems like CCP is ready to follow instead. |

Technically though, eve is leader.
The new gimmicks of manual flight have been around. We will see if ED, SC, whatever, actually live for long. And Valk's reaction kicked off a lot of projects in the year since it was unveiled. For all we know, ccp has something big up there sleeve, but we won't know anything till fan fest.

The comic design is really annoying, but this is my subjective opinion. Still it looks interesting. |

It's another wondering space exploration game. Get resources, get ship, wonder all over in what could be a very lonely universe. Valkyrie is going for action and visceral combat. Yes they're both space games, but that's where they part in attributes.
As far as following goes, their grasp of VR and willingness to share their findings with us tells me they're doing their homework and coming to reasonable conclusions. The fact they have the conviction to say 'what you want actually doesn't work in VR' illustrates that point. Lots of game designers are going to dive in thinking CCP is wrong, they'll fill puke buckets, and realize there is something very different about VR. |

I'm interested in No Man's Sky, but Valkyrie is a very different kind of game. Our focus is on the multiplayer dogfighting experience in VR, No Man's Sky is (as far as I know) about exploration and survival. |

The video was pretty, but I didn't actually see any gameplay? In comparison with E:D, it seemed a very size-compressed, accelerated flight and docking sequence. The smooth transitions from vehicle to walking and space to atmosphere were cool and all, but I didn't see much demonstration of physics or interaction.
Pretty, though. vOv
