A Subject that has crossed my mind many times and so I though I would share it with you
This is a serious one so ill keep my personality to a minimum
Now I admit I can troll...but I think know where the line is
But could it be a form of trolling if you have to chat in an environment that is being spammed with RL issues?
....awkward moments so to speak...where a funny or informative comment would being bad taste despite the fact that this RL issue is also...
an extension...should eve have a player made counselling community for RL as it seems that peeps are not seeking support through the existing structure out of pride?

Right now im 3/4 lit on eggnog that long ago passed the 50/50 mark on rum, so maybe that is why I half agree with Kaarous in not knowing wtf Vapor is on about in this one....

TBH, this is unavoidable. You are playing a game where everyone in the world is on the same server (minus china... damn them) you build friendships and a sense of community. This is unfortunately human nature. and its even more so in our game, where loss has meaning, be it ship loss, sov loss, or pod loss, it all has meaning.
We eventually can create the same mentality as a military unit, where everyone feels a bond to the men and women they fly and fight with. This tends to cause people to open up about real life stuff, or chit chat about things they find interesting. This is human nature. it can;t be avoided in a game like this.

but the issue may simply be their is no in game places in which peeps can express their issue to people who may understand and assist rather then in say Scope Corp chat...
you aint getting nothing constructive from there unless you issue is you ship fit

I heard Second Life can help you with your MMO problems. It's like Real Life but not related to Half Life but Half Life 2 is equal to Real life and Second Life is still greater than Half Life 3 if it ever is released.

As a qualified mental health practitioner from an unknown country in the deepest reaches of Amarr space, I can assure ship fit doest not matter to the proper enhancement of neural reasoning pathways. What you actually imply is not only preposterous but callous as you must remember the maxim of mental medication issues, never absorb neuroenhancer chemicals under the influence of alcohol metabolizants and related processes.
I am of course, feeling to need to detail my social abilities. I have a Improved Social Enhancer, which makes me highly social and apt to make friends everywhere I go (I also have the skills to show people how friendly I am ) and I have been studying EVE online for almost 10 years now.
Thus I will expose to you my findings relating to this particular topic in this simple Image.

This Image represents the total sum knowledge of one of the sides of RL into the game and within it I have tried best to express my point of view as to how I perceive it. Took me a while to fully organize it but this image now conforms to my own aesthetic sense of understanding.
Hope it helps you in your quandary/dilemma and sheds light. I just want to give something back to EVE .

im saying that it is possible a highly sensitive topic may not be handled correctly by 450 anonymous people on a corp chat
I have no issue with getting to know each other quite the opposite, do a couple of missions or mine ops pvp roams and the you have fleet chat or comms you now go beyond strangers and Rl topics can be brought up
but
I find that their is no innocents in a chat situation, from the trolls to the people who bring in RL issues that react badly in what is a often light-hearted environment and sometimes brutal environment

Very true but it will never be responded to correctly in a public chat with anon toons...most others have their own issues and will happily teke it out on the first one the deem applicable my solution online counselling...should it be a thing?
it is still a topic that should be spoken about as a way of monitoring social interaction in a MMO and as a way of ensuring that skin can be thickened while still knowing when the line has been crossed
