If I could do Eve all over again...

HeXxploiT Little Red X 78	Posted - 2014.12.26 04:26:48 - [1] - Quote I think one of my biggest regrets in the game is that I was too ambitious and came too far too fast in the pursuit of acquiring and maintaining wealth & power. I think if I were to do Eve all over again I would have moved much slower into lowsec & nulsec and took my time rather than learning about everything so quickly and thereby losing much of the essence of the great mysteries of the verse. I would spend more time flying cheap ships and ponder what lies beyond that scary place they call lowsec. The pilots I think I envy most are the ones traversing lowsec & wormholes with their T1 scanning ships running hacking & archeology sites and doing backflips because they've hit the jackpot with a 100mil score. Instead 95% of the time am am wasting away in station attempting to grow my wealth. Ooh I long to be the guy who can afford to lose 3 ships a day but I MUST fly my shiny ships and -10bil a day is not good for maintaining ones wealth. I know others must have this dilemma or perhaps similar ones. If you were to start Eve anew how would your playstyle change from what it has become today?

No, no complaints. I started all over again last year. Started pvp on day 6 and kept going ever since. SP aren't all they're cracked up to be. They provide options, not smarts. I lived in LowSec for a year and I know how to survive and make money there. I lived in HiSec and learned how to grief other players there, and in so doing, learned how to survive in HiSec (which is actually a really dangerous place). I moved into WH's and they have been entertaining me for 6 months. I still fly around in cheap frigs and cruisers. I care less about the ISK involved in what I do and more in the novelty/entertainment factor. Having a 50 billion ISK net worth will do that to you. Useful Alt Pator Tech School Minmatar Republic 7	Posted - 2014.12.28 16:18:57 - [40] - Quote i gained too much isk too fast back in 2005/2006, i tried tons of things and now nearly 10 years later, i cannot find something i enjoy so I only spin my ship and update my skill queue skill wise, i would have about ~3 millions more sp if i had manage everything properly but... who cares, with my 210m sp and 210 skill at level 5, i would probably die to a new pvp player since i never really enjoyed that part of the game so I suck at it.

I've enjoyed allmost all aspects of the game and got all out of it what i wanted. The only thing i would change would be asking close evefriends for their rl email adress to keep in touch wich i allways tried to not do as as i liked to keep rl and game seperatly but so many old mates i flew with of wich i daily wonder what they are doing now and how they are in rl . We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.

Wouldn't change a thing either. Contrary to advice and popular wisdom, I've always been more interested in the mining, production, transport, and market parts of the game. PVP is something I don't do much (but as you can imagine- I have teeth). Today I'm very pleased with where I am in the game. But it was kinda of hard at first when all my friends ran off to be "PVP only". I had to make it on my own. Indy corps were out of the question because they got decced all the time. So for more than ten years, my main has stood alone, and over the years I added additional accounts so I could achieve my goals without having to deal with internal corp politics. Today, I am totally self sufficient and my corp is a respected member of a medium sized low sec alliance. And... this is also an alt :)

I did exactly that over a year ago (with a 50+ M SP). Best move ever. I got in before the character sales market dropped out, was an easy ISK making character, so got a stack of cash. Half spent on PLEX (before the market blew out), half kept for burning ships. I knew how to optimise training for the ships I wanted to fly, so there was a month of pain, but then I was competent with the small stuff again. Don't have to pay to play. Don't care about losing the (cheapish) ships I fly. Have fun watching the world burn.

At first I approached other players with caution, beig carefull not to step on anyones toes. I thought I didn't have any leverage, as I didn't realize carebears even existed and meta gaming was new to me. It took me a while to see my own potential, but it was all over once I started hunting PI haulers in lowsec and got my first 100m+ kill in a <1m ship. The only thing I might somewhat regret is not seeking out a piratical corp to join as a newbie, but I made amends by starting one that's relatively easy to get into.
