Well, it is said that missions lvl3 are intended for battlecruisers, but I can't see how is it possible to acomplish them in a BC. I have aporximately 1,1 mlillion skill points, piloting Brutix and taking missions for caldari Navy Command division. My setup is: 6x200mm Scout Railgun I(thungsen ammo) 1x AB II, 2x Small Cap Booster, 1x X5 Prototype webbifier 1x800mm Crystaline Carbonide, 1xAdative Nano Membrane, 1xDamage Control 1, 1x Med Armor Rep II, 1x RCU
And still I don't stand any chance in battle. I just started to make lvl3 missions. First mission I took was with some slaves - a tought fight, but I made it. The second was Technological secrets (1/3) and it suggest fighting at least 8 cruisers and over 20 frigates. Cruisers don't have problems hitting me from 40km and are faster than my Brutix. Engaging them on groups doesn't work, hitting one of them means they all come after you. I tried another mission, Pirate Invasion, which took me in identical situations. Once again 8 cruisers with heavy missiles and 20 frigates. And if i was able to engage them in groups, there is still group of 6 cruisers guarding the beacon to the next stage.
Any advices will be useful, I don't think I'm so weak fihter, but maybe I'm wrong...

How are your gunnery skills? Its also possible that your support skills are lacking (Armour tanking and cap skills). Level 3's are definitley doable in a BC, I use a ferox to do mine and the only mission that causes trouble is stage 2 of Mordus Headhunters. I have 3m skill points but half are in industry/learning skills. I cant help too much with the fitting as I've never fit a Brutix however if you haven't done so have a look through the fitting sticky at the top of the Ships & Mods forum. Zulef

Edited by: Reinala on 12/09/2006 10:18:09 It seems you are having problems with your tank/experience.
Small Cap Boosters? Why not normal Cap Recharges/Battaries? Armor Plate is for short amount of time - generaly on missions you either tank long (no matter the HP) or die fast (no matter the HP). 1xAdaptive Membrana + DCU is really not enough for this. I'd suggest to swap plate+membrane for active hardeners (specific for your NPC!). RCU/CP and such is only must be there for real payoff in damage... but for 200mm instead of 150? I really doubt it on that stage. Better make it another hardener or even plate.
I hope your Battlecruiser skill is not 1 or 2?

I got 300,000 SP in Engeneering, 200,000 in Mechanic and little over 100,000 in gunnery. I got engeneering lvl5 and my bst to fit as much firepower as it's possible. Got Thermic, Kinetic and Explosive compensation to lvl3. Gunnery lvl4, MHT lvl3, surgical strike lvl3, rapid firing lvl3, also battlecruiser lvl2 with it's bonuses for damage and armour repairers.
And still, 8 cruisers beat me in less than 30 seconds and if I'm very, very lucky I manage to destroy one befor warping out. Returning is pointless, because they are already gathere in one place and start firing at once after my ship comes out of warp.

Well, my battlecruser level is level3, 3 coming after 20 hours. I took 200mm especially for range. But they still doesn't deliver enough damage. And how can I understand what resistances I need for these npc's?

Caldari Navy missions are a cakewalk in my Ferox. I can't remember the last time I was in serious risk.

Edriahn, you just need to skill up a bit more. I do all the Lvl 3's in my Proph, and with the exception of a few extremely hard ones, it works fine. Whether or not the Brutix is a good choice I don't know, I've never flown Gallente.

Em I so bad in tha skill part? Not sure a few new levels will change the absolute superiority of the NPC's. And the last explanation is that i'm doing something wrong. Sacrificing the 800mm plate and the RCU - fine. But still not sure what active resistances I need. You say "peece of cake", "very easy", but I still seesucha a large group of cruisers and frigates as an unbeatable manace.

P.S. Oh, and Armor Compensation skills is basically useless with normal passive hardeners -> active is always better for missions (no one nosing you, and there is never enough resists). Following that - until you really can sleep on missions - never go easy/lazy on refitting ship for specific NPC/situation.

Reinala, you have my gratitude. Some refiting, 2x Kinetic active hardeners, DCU and 1xAdaptive membrane and they are unable to even scratch my armor. The whole thing was about kinetic damage, and was very short in kinetic resistance, only 50%. Thanks again for shoing me that site, it will be more than useful.

You're welcome .
When you get used to heavy tank (and various missions in the process) - I suggest to start swapping it for gank. Not just high caliber guns, but damage mods also (if you are going turret way).
In the end you will fly something that dying fast... but kills even faster. Don't let this part of game become too boring with overtanking .

Get a BS for lvl3 mission. You most probably cant handle harder lvl3 missions with a BS and low skills. Except, may be, you are using caldari ship ...

A lot of damage is my second name. Not sure what exactly you mean with damage mods, but still cannot fit Tracking computers, which seem to me very useful. Now concentrating on the Gunnery skills, because I plan to get a battleship soon and it cannot be fitted with medium guns. The last level3 missions i was running with 7x200mm, but now tanking became problem and that's why I came to the forum. And in the end, the capacitor rechargers was the hell of a good idea, I'm really having troubles with fitting the mid slots. Now cap recharge time is about 200 secs for 2150 power. And with such a missions with profit missions I get my hands on a Megathron before you can say "noobs don't drive battleships". :)

I suppose my skills are low. But as I said in my post above the missions were a peece of cake with suitable tanking. 84% kinetic resistance and going agains 10 cruisers is not a problem. Just killed 9 caldari NPC cruisers. I didn't expected the exact specific tanking(instead of adaptive membranes and etc.) to be so importing, turning the mission from impossible to child game.

Damage mod for hybrids - Magnetic Field Stabilizer. Been a low powered modules - they are pain to fit for armor tankers.
But going gallente way you have choice between Dominix and Megathron (yes, if you really going agent runner way - get battleship as soon as you can). First using turrets as support and don't need damage/tracking modules very much (but they still do good, yes) - all goes for tanking (drones always happy to bug-aggro everything for you). Second is pretty intresting and I think is more tough to fit than Tempest (which can be happily shield tanked for missions)... Saddly, Gallente dosn't have solid faction ship for mission running (just my opinion though).
As for tracking modules - they are very dependable on strategy. When you "snipe" NPC from long range tracking is not really important (meaning you don't need 3xTC and 3xTE to hit anything). And in closer range you will be either missing everything but BS no matter tracking modules pile up or actively maneuvering for low transversal = lowering need for tracking altogether = hitting everything from cruisers and up.
For example, flying artillery Machariel (with Megathron-like Tracking bonus) I use only one TC. And even that only out of lazyness . I doubt you will need more than one for Megathron (if you learn how to maneuver for transversal), better put AB, CR and such.
P.S. No matter the love for guns - don't forget about the drones

Heh, I've got lvl5 Drones and some of the most important skills too. I wer able to buy a Dominix before few days, but I really am not atracted to this ship. I really prefer the Megathron, but it comes at the price of two Dominixes. And still need some skills for LHT, so I will wait for two weeks. And I don't intend to stay sit in this two weeks, so I will take everything that my Brutix can do. I heard it's a great ship, and think to try myself if it's true. The last beattle against 14 cruisers and 3 battlecruisers was very, very challenging and after acomplishing it I think I can do anything with my beast-Brutix.

I just hit 2mil SP (1/3 in learning skills) and i have no problem soloing lvl3 missions in a brutix (Angel Extravaganza is the only one i havent tried yet). I set it up for armour tanking and drones for damage. I fit: 3x150 named, AM ammo 3x250 named, AM ammo 1xTractor beam
AB II Webber 2xCap recharger or 1xcap + 1xtarget painter depending on missions
1600 Rolled Tungsten 2 or 3 active or passive hardners depending on mission Med armour repearer more cap rechargers or hull mods
5xMed drones (training drone interfacing lvl3 now :) )
Some missions I drop the 1600 plate all go all med guns with long range ammo to take out cruisers/bc and let my drones take care of the frigs.
I dont have many gunnery skills. I mostly rely on drones and tanking.

Sorry for my question, i'm a noob in fighting... Why do you fit a webber since its range is only 10km max, and you have railguns instead of blasters?
