I have only just found this thread after posting my own. I am getting CTD on Undock and Jumping, thankfully, no other CTDs. Does not happen every time, and mostly soon after starting Eve. It seems to get better after being logged in for a while. Not sure.
For sure this problem started after the latest client side patch. I have not changed any drivers or software on my machine. I have been playing with sound enabled on this machine since mid august and never had one CTD until this patch.
It is an Intel CoreDuo based machine with 7900GTX.
I am wondering if there are two CTD problems at work here. 1. for people who have random CTDs and 2. For People Undocking/Jumping. Might be an idea to seperate out the two ? If you think sensible, then maybe people with the undock/jump problem could post their details on my thread "CTD on Jump or undock" ?

Having said all that, I was NOT getting these constant CTD before the last patch...the EVE client HAS to be involved somewhere and I for one would still like some Dev input here
I think this is the key point really. You may have some luck by messing about with your RAM, but in reality you should not have to unless it is faulty. Your computer is designed to use this RAM configuration so if one game has a problem then it is the game at fault not the hardware.
These CTDs on Jumping and Undocking must be related to some process or code which changed in the last patch.
I do not get problems with the other games I am currently playing: Oblivion, Call of Juarez, Half Life2, Settlers 2 10th aniversary.
I will continue on my debug process and have already submitted a bug report.

Originally by: Flitz Farseeker I've forwarded this fix to the GMs as part of my ongoing petitions. However, I was playing last night and was still having problems with jumps and undocking - no hard lock or CTD but still hanging so it's not a 100% fix
Well, undock and jump problems are not uncommon due to lag or other factors. I've had plenty since being in Eve. It's only the CTDs which are a new thing for me and if you have found a fix then well done and many thanks ! I will try this tonight on my CoreDuo rig.
If this is the workaround then it does fairly accurately pinpoint the problem to Eve's gfx threading and hopefully we should get a Fix or at least a response from the Devs would be nice on this.
It will also be interresting to see what impact this on performance in other games. (Probably negative) I am guessing that it means all gfx coding is processed on one core rather than split over both.

Well I tried the regedit:
I have 4 of these on my system:
HKey_Local_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{GUID}\0000
All of them have the vgacompatible thing so I just used the first one. I was doing ok but still had one CTD on jumping this morning. So maybe not out of the woods. Maybe I need to add the change to each one ?
Also maybe this does not apply to Nvidia cards ? I have a 7900GTX.

I added the reg key to each of them but still crashes on Jump or Undock so another thing ruled out and the hunt goes on.

It could be some instability in my new custom built system, but there is no other software product made for Windows that I have to spend hours tweaking my system to be able to use. Eve is very special.
Could you imagine if Eve was a DVD.
Customer: DVD plays for a while but crashes on a chapter change. Support: Did you disable audio on your DVD player ? Customer: Yes it still stops playing though. Support: Did you upgrade your DVD player to the latest firmware ? Customer: Yes but I still get the same problem. Support: Is your DVD player overheating ? Customer : It plays any other DVD just fine.
etc.

Given the general non response from Devs on this one, I am guessing that they are just hoping the kali patch might make some of the problems go away. I certainly am hoping that the Jump and Undock CTDs go away.

Originally by: Bloomer Same problem. CTD with no messages when entering (almost any) area. Tried running from my laptop with the same issue. I don't want to stop playing altogether, but this is ridiculous. All other games/aps work fine on both computers.
AMD 64 Dual 4200 nVidia 7900 GT 2G SB X-Fi
Core Duo T2400 nVidia Go 7300 2G
Yes this is interesting.
Two machines different video cards so likely rule out GFX as being the cause. Also I have two machines one Dual core, the other isn't guess which one is stable and whiche isn't.
I think we have ruled out audio, we have ruled out GFX. so it really boils down to memory or dual core machines (even with core affinity).
I have until 8th Nov on this subscription. If Kali isn't out by then I'm gonna unsubscribe and resubscribe when Kali available and stable. There is really a limit how much "trouble shooting" one should have to do to make a game work properly.
PS. I bought Company of Heroes to keep me going... runs rock solid !
