Personally, I have never ransomed anyone (I do not entertain such requests at all...they are ignored).
For the sake of argument, if I did or knew others in my corp or alliance had made an agreement along these lines, I'd respect and honor those agreements.
However, as it pertains to the Tribute region, I have been instructed that until further notice, an NBSI policy is in place. If it's neutral or hostile, I kill it. If I can't kill it, it gets away. If it can kill me before I can kill it, I leave. Pretty simple. Nothing personal.
In low-sec empire, I only shoot hostiles, known hostile "neutral" alts, and pirate corp members (usually only the ones that are blinky because I'm not big on sec hits).
I'm pretty sure my alliance and more corp do not condone piracy of any kind. However, Tribute and the adjoining areas of Lontrek are a warzone. Warzones , at best, are bad places to be.

Secondly, we are very disturbed that other pilots seem to be killing neutrals in low sec Lonetrek. Murdering these folks is wrong. THAT'S OUR JOB DARNIT!!
So as to your death, we approve. Taisy, Jan, and Navula are now closed to unallied traffic until further notice. As to the facts surrounding your death, well we would have handled it differently.
I'd suggest contacting M.M. Leadership.
Also, I'd suggest staying out of the area until the M.M. vs. TCF thing calms down . . . or at least have the decency to bring good loot <ahem> I mean donations to the Tribute Orphans Fund - Bastage, Inc., Treas.
Don't judge a group by the actions of specific low ranking players, just by thier leadership . . . well except for BoB . . . <snicker> They're ebil.
Stay out of Low Sec. Lonetrek! The loot you save may just be your own!
Looks like the decency to bring good loot applies to you and your camps, That wasa nice T2 / Faction fitted apoc we killed the other day. Nalvula and surrounds are ours, and have been for a lot longer than you've been there, we've already beaten off a couple invasions, nothing makes yours seem any different.

it's more of the fact that they took a ransom then blew him up. He probably wouldn't of warped to the gate if they didn't take the ransom. And ransoms are generally less than what the ship is worth so he probably came out with less isk.

shame on that specific pilot!
the pilot acted in a way that is simple not acceptable if u fly under the banner of an honorable alliance. following nbsi to defend ur home and claimed 0.0 space is one thing but nbsi in low sec?!?! well thats piracy i would say. AND paying ransom and then get shoot... thats something very, very embarassing for a pilot.

I'd just like to add my two cents. Morsus Mihi is a bunch of well-mannered pilots. And I'm sure the actions of this pilot does not reflect the entire Alliance. That is a very un-fair claim and has no substance.
Lesson learned for all parties, and I'm sure this type of thing will not happen again.

Yes that was a good fight. We got*****y (grrr - stupid censor, okay try "over-confident". Should have been more careful when we saw the Covert Ops ship. Yes, we even saw the probes. But no . . . our CEO simply said "lets get the pirate hauler at the gate. Screw the Dark Side guys MrMann can handle them . . . MrMann you stay behind and cover for us." GRRRRRRRrrrr. He's such a bastage.
Anywho . . . We never said our Campaign to Bring Peace and Love to Greater Tribute would be easy. Getting rid of you nasty pirates will be difficult. Thankfully, given our complete lack of morals, we have more tools at our disposal than the previous challangers.
And yes, we only carry the best. Well except for Duckk, Millinkoee only lets him use one-ply tissue paper for his armor.

While still others (and I respectfully submit it is the majority of the alliance in question) do see a problem with it, don't condone it, don't offer ransom or entertaion requests for it, don't pirate, and respect their agreements and those made by their peers (to the extent they are informed of them).
Curious that you would leave that out.

Edited by: Bratack on 14/09/2006 20:57:58 Funny how ppl see things that are not there.
I see him offering a BRIBE to someone in a private convo. Thats not a ransom. He tried to bribe someone and it did not work.
Now if it was a ransom and he did not honor it then shame on him but shame on you for paying it.
And if you read the whole thing you would see that it was a setup to begin with. What noob runs around with fraps running and looking for PR issues with others? It was a setup, obviously this person has issues and I dont think that it will stop here. |

What noob does not realise that Fraps was running after the convo finished to document the screenshots were not photoshopped
Also, if you think I was trying to be malicious to some MM people just because I wanted to get out of a system and the offender was right to blow me up after accepting the payment for my passage, you are very wrong and are offending my intelligence. Now, it will stop here because the issue is being addressed by hirr's director.
Furthermore, the representative of hirr has handled the matters very well so far without the involvement of fallen pr/forum warriors like yourself who see deception everywhere.
I will give an update to the community on how the case finished when it does.
NB: perhaps you address your own issues, Bratack, before pointing out the non-existent ones in others. I will not tolerate things like the OP happening just as I will not tolerate people suggesting that me addressing a problem is wrong.

2) trust no one, when it comes to low sec and 0.0 trust only yourself and your abilities. if there is a gatecamp then go safe and wait it out or find another way out of the system.
3) stop whining, you got blown up in low sec the guy took a sec status hit and flagged for 15 mins, you have kill rights on him for 30 days and you got your money back. buy a new caracal, wait till you catch him in jita farting around in a frig and kill him. there youre even.
4) i have had nothing but good experiences with M.M. i have had the honor of flying with some of their pilots and safely travel through camps at will.
5) Get standings with them you noob, get your corp set to +, you wont be neut to them and you wont tend to get blownup.

This is not a shiploss whine post, and don't make it sound like it is.
Also, don't you call me a noob. If you are so smart about killrights, you should probably know that a "noob" can't get even within the killrights system unless doing nothing but devoting all their time to finding the target in a smaller ship, preferably in highsec, afk and not stabbed out...
Oh, btw, you realise it was a group gank, not a single person 1v1 attack? No? I thought so, so sit quiet...

So since they don't shoot you, must mean they are saints?
And i love how you tell him to get standings. you really think they are going to sit there and setup standings for one person so he can pass their camp? Way to be a ******* retard.
TBH the ****ty part is they tell him one thing so he comes to them, blow him up and then send back the ransom. It's not so much an isk issue as it's just a ****ty move to pull.

Well that's the M-O gatecamp in a nutshell.. Hell, that's all gatecamps.. Been on both sides of them and they just suck.. If MM really wanted to live up to their claim of "honorable alliance" they'd be doing something more than just NBSI gatecamping unsuspecting noobs..
Unless they've posted one recently, notice that there's no secure anchored can proclaiming "WARNING: Entering Morsus Mihi space, if you do not have positive standings turn back!" at the Taisy gate.. The reason it is not there is because they DO want to shoot random people who come thru the gate and keep their gear.. Most people who do that are pirates; however for MM it's just "defending their space" (they have good PR agents)..
Granted, the best way to defend your space from your enemies (who know exactly where you are) is to lie in wait around a gate and blast unfamiliar people who come thru with no warning whatsoever.. It really is an ingenious plan since TCF would never suspect MM to be camping the M-O gate, and TCF ships and alts would just happily parade thru to act as a shooting gallery for the noble and heroic MM forces of justice.. Good job guys! Keep up the good non-pirate work! *applause*..
Obviously, my first podding was thanks to the MM gatecamp when their little war had just started.. Hopped thru, saw lots of red (they had just finished off my mates), I asked for a ransom, got no response, cloak timer ran out, and found myself in a clone station.. Wasn't happy about it.. Still bitter? Yup.. But I've accepted that's what the entire game is all about.. That one event pretty much changed my goals in the game from trying to be an upstanding citizen to being a pirate.. And of course it also gave me a deep and abiding dislike for a number of the Northern alliances..
I've subsequently been on the shooting side of gatecamps and have done the same thing to other people.. Probably made other people feel the same way.. Frankly, gatecamps suck.. If you're doing one for security reasons then post a warning.. If you're doing it to pirate and get kills, then at least have the balls to admit it..

I'm failing to see how MM are somehow 'evil' for doing something every 0.0 seems to do: Camp their chokepoints and kill all who they don't want in their space.
The idea that people need a 'warning can' by a jumpgate to a 0.0 chokepoint just makes me wonder how rapid the run downhill in player quality is accelerating. I knew, before my trial account was up, that jumping into 'hotspots' comes with the high chance of getting blown straight to hell. Maybe I was lucky, but really, complaining that a group is 'not honorable' because they keep their space as intruder free as possible is absurd.
*****ing because a few members of an alliance did something against their alliance's policy is absurd. All alliances have people who do that at one time or another. This faintly reminds me of when CONCORD wasn't working, sirmollie posted he was going to reimburse people some evol members ganked, and he got flamed for it.
Ultimately, if anyone doesn't like what MM did, then do something about it, go attack them. Blob and gank any ships of theirs and get some 'payback'.
Look at those pics, you paid them, got a sacastic 'ok' from them, got blown up, and got refunded since they look to have never intended to let you go, or take a ransom.
