Not only are the forums continuing to be their usual arsey selves but the main site is dead. I can only get here using myeve. It doesn't create a very good first impression. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Remember that the Internet is more that just your ISP and the server you are connecting to. There is a lot of StuffÖ in between. The last time I lost connectivity to some sites, it was because a router went down in Chicago (I'm in St Louis). It all depends on where in the world you are connecting from what services your ISP uses.

The site has a lot of problems atm. CCP doesn't seem overly interested in fixing it though >_<

Different ISPs at home and work. Plus going through a couple of proxy services doesn't help. Tracert doesn't show any problems either. Just seems like the server can't get data to me fast enough. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

It's been like it all week. Myeve site is fine apart from that irritating login loop bug, but the main eve-online domain has been very patchy, with frequent outages. |

To those spouting off at the mouth about ISP, take a moment to actually read the comments people are posting, contemplate what they are trying to say, and then post.
Reading is fundamental: People (notice the plural) are reporting that http://www.eve-online.com is not quite the normal speedy load, yet http://myeve.eve-online.com is just fine. I too have experienced this, but letÆs move past that at the moment.
Fact. Both eve and myeve are on the same network range, 87.237.39.0/23 which is advertised to the carrier Level 3 in London. You may find that information on the Level 3 looking glass. If you don't know what all that means then let me paraphrase by saying that traffic destined to both servers follows the same path to CCP.
WHAT-IF 1: If a person was having local ISP issues, then both sites would be having issues. Furthermore, they would be having issues to most locations outside the realm of eve.
WHAT-IF 2: Carrier interchange issues. This could be an issue if some people were experiencing issues while others were not. This would depend entirely on which originating ISP the person having issues belonged too. The two arguments against this what-if being valid are people having issues from multiple ISPs (although that does not entirely dismiss the chance) and the fact that myeve is fine, and eve-online is not. The latter being the key.
WHAT-IF 3: Level 3 or local CCP network issues. This could most certainly be an issue, but again we look to the same argument as above. If it was purely a level 3 or local ccp net issue, most everything in eve would be affected. Perhaps it is indeed, but not being noticed by people or they are just chalking it up to usual lag. So this should not be entirely ruled out, but I think the next what-if is probably a more likely culprit.
WHAT-IF 4: Load-Balancer/Reverse Proxy to Server. Not having seen the layout of the eve hosting, I can only surmise from hosting experience that there is some type of load balancer that directs traffic to a given server. Depending upon the type of balancing algorithm used, it is quite probable that two people residing on the same local network would have mixed performance experiences.
Further evidence that would lean towards this type of what-if problem is the fact that eve-online having performance issues and myeve-online not. This could indeed be a server issue. If one of the eve-online servers was having issues, and the LB/RP was not configured or capable of knowing there were server performance issues, then a given % of the user traffic would still be directed towards the ailing server.
It could also be an application issue. If multiple servers are indeed being load balanced, and the web page coding was not quite copied correctly to both servers, then one page would load fine, and another would not. It is not unheard of to have different edited revisions of web pages on servers.
In summarization, this is not a local users ISP issue.
