I think one of the problems we face today in EVE is the predictability of the setups mapped to a given ship (and hence their expected capabilities). Since everybody whishes to fight only when odds point to a plausible win, we often think too much about when, where and how to engage, and this after loosing time to adapt our setups to what we believe we may face.
All this linked with the infos we retrieve from local and covops intel has induced EVE to become a very static PvP environment. There are of course other reasons, like players afraid of loosing their ships, etc... But basically, there's simply too much information out there which prevents people to routinely take their chances. In a few words: EVE misses what is called "The Fog of War" on RL battlefields.
That's why I whish I could see two Camouflage skills implemented along with their corresponding T1/T2 mods:
- The Camouflage skill would give acces to T1 Camo mods, and T2 Camo mods with lvl4. - The Illusion skill would decrease the range required to break the Camouflage. - Activating a T1 Camo mod on a T1 ship would make it appear ON OVERVIEW as being its T2 equivalent, and inversely a T2 Camo mod on a T2 ship would make it appear as its T1 ship variant.
The effect of the camouflage would be displayed only on textual HUD infos and scanner, but would never affect the graphics of the camouflaged ships. This would give a chance to actually become aware of an active camouflage by looking at the ship. But for overview infos and scanner, better the Illusion skill of the pilot of the camouflaged ship, closer you would have to fly in order to break the Camouflage effect and get the correct identification.
This would bring a whole new dimension to Recon ops, since you could not anymore sit cloaked at 300 Km and feed absolutely exact intel to your mates. Instead, you would either have to sneak around close enough to get your overview displaying the correct infos, or to be able to recognize the ships by zooming in.
On another hand, we would see a plethora of T1 ships pretending to be T2 for dissuasive purposes, and many T2 ships trying to disguise themselves as T1 in order to attract a prey.
Critics, suggestions ? I've the feeling that this could bring to the game a degree of fun we aren't experiencing atm.

I would like to have something like that. I assume these mods would be med slot?
One problem I see is that once 1 enemy scouts you, he gonna report what you really have, and for rest of the day you gonna have a wasted slot. And then later people would quickly learn who's likely to use what ships
In that sense, these features would definitely not be overpowered, thus pretty safe to introduce. Perhaps that'd be something cool to try once or twice, but nothing mainstream

Thinking along these lines, I've just been reading about the War in the atlantic, and came across the concept of the Q ship. In Eve terms, on the overview this would look like a common a garden Industrial, the reality, it's a well armoured and well Armed warship, perhaps the equivelent of a Battle Cruiser, or Cruiser. For those who think I'm after the best of both worlds, no it wouldn't have an Industrial sized cargo hold, but one equivelent to a BC or Cruiser. It would be a great idea for countering Empire camps. Bad guys shoot at it. But rather then insta die, it absorbs the damage and punches back hard.

Would be nice to see something like this, have a skill so you can make your ship look like another till you open fire or get attack then the camo goes away. It would allow for alot more battles as you could camo as a badger but be a raven or vise versa :p

I think it would be better in a high with low fittings requirements. Put in a med and you hurt shield tankers. Put in a low and you hurt armor tankers. Instead, there are quite a few setups where there's nothing you can fit in your last high.

The "look at" option in the overview only works under 100Km. It means that anything sitting at a higher range will not be able to gather reliable intel. Then in 0.0 everybody uses instas nowadays. If it is plausible to have enough time to look at a single ship instajumping to get his correct class, it is another story with gangs where you would probably miss the majority of the wing.

It works both ways. Is that Vagabond a Vagabond, is that Condor a Condor ? Effective camps rely on the judgment of the fleet leader to call the targets in the correct order, which implies a quick assessment of opponent's capabilities. By obliging a fleet leader to either take more time analyzing the situation before calling targets or to make a quick decision which might be incorrect and induce heavy losses, this somewhat compenses the lag usually benefitting to campers.

wrong, if you're smart you can see well passed 100km, infact, you can see over 500 if you're clever. -------------------------------------

Alot of people get confused enough looking at the ship Icons. Hell, someone told me there was an interceptor gang incoming once, when it was infact an interceptor and Ishtar gang!

Thats a really cool idea.
It will be akin to hacking the enemy's ship FoF/ID computers. Or hacking your own computer to send a "modified signature" to the rest.
Doubt it will ever be done, but this is very cool

does this pertain to when someone uses a scanning module?
also, what i'd like to see is when i'm being scanned by another ship. why can't i tell? sure, someone may TARGET me with a passive module, but why does that mean i can't detect the radiation or whatever is being used to scan my cargo/setup. i hate how the passive targeter blocks other mods. it's just stupid that i cannot tell when someone is shooting radiation at my cargo hold or setup. targeting is one thing, but you should be able to tell when someone is using a module on you...
