OK perhaps not brown, but black, or some other shady shade. I used to distinguish the characters I had logged in, either with alt-tab or the task bar in windows, by colour. Since the UI changes in the client (which overall I like by the way), I have been unable to do this because the secondary colour in almost all colour schemes is very hard to distinguish from any other.
Here's what I'd like: The ability to choose whatever RGB combination I would like for foreground or background. You know, pretty much like I had before. I'm asking here so I don't have to embarrass my local CSM to bring it up. I don't have multiple monitors but I do have multiple characters.
Thank you . |

I must insist that you cease your histrionics at once. A great many of those colors are very far removed from brown. |

Brown or not brown, the request for an RGB slider is still valid. And frankly, I'm highly surprised this hasn't been implemented yet. We've had it before, and everyone used it. Why not now? Clearly every theme is made of two colors...

I actually like the current themes colours vs utter customisation. For me it provides more connection with the game world.
Same as if/when we get ship paint I don't want it to be utterly customisable, but linked to the in game corps, with alliances being able to request a custom alliance paint same as custom logo rules. And then you can change some aspects like add an extra overlay pattern or different logo's at points.
As again, extra connection to the game world. |

Okkkkkay. So you choose one of the themes. You don't have to look at my client and I don't have to look at yours so it's all good. |

I'm quite sure there was a specific reason behind limiting the themes as they did.
I'm not sure specifically what it was, though. |

Because a neon pink and white Hello Kitty color scheme might not portray the tone CCP wants to convey when used on recorded videos? |

They didn't like my UI setup.
As with any human, we must map out everything for the sake of living. So what happens when you put the same aspect in a game with random events? They go nuts trying to figure out how to predict and map out everything.

so instead I have to 'pick it up second hand'
Asking me to look into something never embarasses me, it is what I am here for, although I would like a bit more detail on this one, foreground/background of what? Character selection screen on login? Portraits themselves?
A few weeks to summit, please let me know so I can add it to my infamous book

The new themes are very beautiful, and i love the option to switch themes based on what ship you are flying.
But I aswell wish CCP would give us back the option to make our own themes |

I'm not asking for themes to be removed, only for an "advanced" option so that I can use stronger foreground/background combinations that contrast more with each other, so I can immediately recognise them when I see them in the task bar pop-up or alt-tabbing through my characters. |

CCP stated in a few of their posts on this topics and others that the reason for not having this as well as making so many of the new changes forced rather than toggleable is to create a more controlled user experience. you know because thats what we play eve for |

I understand that from a development point of view controlling things is important to simplify the process. But this is pretty basic stuff. It's not as if I particularly like the new transparency shader anyway (the one that blurs windows in space rather than simply multiplying out the alpha). I suspect it's one of the reasons window background colour has been restricted to brown.
Some work still needs to be done on this CCP Arrow! |

Pure idle speculation here. The ability to have color sliders for the ui AND having the ui change colors for each ship put to large a load on the server/client.
Another thought, the additional data storage for every ship in the game was more than they were willing to dedicate to a UI task.
If any of this is true I would rather have limited color options and the ability to change color schemes based on the ship I am flying. |
