Skillpoints aren't everything. How you set up the ships and how you fly them also has a huge impact on performance.

As a player with a large number of points in drones skills I can attest to the effectiveness of the Dominix but I would have to say in most cases, no.
The Domi would win if the 'thron has a sniper setup for sure (and the Domi could get close enough), but I'd put my ISK on the 'thron with a blaster setup.

Edited by: Berrik Radhok on 15/09/2006 11:57:39 try this
High 4x Heavy Nos 2x 125mm rails/thorium (for podding people) Mid 3x Multispectral ECM 1x Warp Disruptor (1 Strength) 100mN MWD Low 7x Nanofibers Drones Keep one wave of Praetors (for shield tanks such as Ravens), one of Warriors (for interceptors) and one of Ogres (for everyone else), filling the remaining dronebay space with replacement Ogres.
Since you're fighting a thron, replace the jammers with gallente racials instead for a better jam chance.
Be warned that lots of people will moan and whine when you use ECM, but that only lasts until their pod goes pop (unless they send you hilarious ranting evemails, in which case, post them in crime and punishment).

I once met 2year old (or more, it was BoB:P) player, he was in mega, I was in dual rep domi. Lets just say my reps barly did 1 cycle:P Guy had f**** dmg, so if you want take down domi only way is dmg, ions/neutrons. And jamer in med slot. If he dont have jamers you can easy kill him if you have enough dmg.

It is?
For some reason the fact that ~50% of the people replying to the thread fail to read and understand the point of the OP is hilarious. |

You forgot about the jammers. Luck > Skill
However there are some non ghey Domi setups out there, but I'm not quite sure if they can down a Mega, since Domi has poor grid and has to rely on it's tank.

Looks to me like he's the one in the Domi, after all, a 2 year old player isn't much of a noob.
Like other people suggested, fill a couple of mid slots with ECM, if you know for sure it will be a mega your facing you could use these.

The domi is stupidly strong, thats why.
Nos domi with jammers is a win button.
I use a different setup these days because I want to be challenged but it's still far more versatile than a megat imo.

ahh I run both a domi/drone and a mega/blaster or mega/rails. TO kill a domi/drone you use target painters and a webber on the DRONES and kill them off fast. After tha the domi is toast because if you are a smart mega pilot you have 4 neutrons and 4 heavy nos loaded up in high along with either 4 garde or 4 orge in drone bay. Of course by that time the domi pilot has made a yellow ice cloud in space as he warps off. "To succeed greatly one must sacrifice greatly"

Hold on.
Is it: 'How can a player with 6 months training in a Dominix take down a 2 year player who is in a Megathron?'
Or: 'How can a player with 6 months in a Dominix use a Megathron to take down a 2 year old player?'
Confusing me a bit. : /

It's "gosh, a 6 month player in a DOMI spanked a 2 year old player in a MEGAT"
The OP is surprised. I'm not

Edited by: CadmiuOne on 18/09/2006 06:31:42 Edited by: CadmiuOne on 18/09/2006 06:30:09 We'll I have to say that the only logical conclusion is that the mega player was at an early stage with it cos there's no other explenation for his destruction ... like most of u sugested I woud fit the mega for mid range not as a snipe a sniper is good only if he has a tank budy with him to prewent the enemy for geting in too close so in 1vs1 mega users soud always keep in mind and that and not use a sniper setup .
Thanks for u'r interest in this post ! The sniper setup only works great in gangwars ! |

Edited by: Antodias on 18/09/2006 09:49:42 Assuming the Domi doesn't have a rack of ECM, a (very) skilled Thron pilot should be able to beat it.
However, that is a very big assumtion. : /

Yesterday i defeated a t2 fitted domi without ecm. it took me 2 minutes (was in a pest) to take him down. for a skilled mega pilot it'd take about 20-30 secs. BUT if you fit ecm, web, scram he's as good as dead. Nos + ecm + drones = win in today's eve world =)

Age is less a factor than setup and tactics.
Megathron's do huge amounts of damage at close range. If you have a ship/setup that's set up to counter that then skillpoints don't come into it.
2 webs, holding the mega outside it's optimal, is enough to mean it doesn't hurt (much) and you can return fire and probably kill it, because a blasterthron doesn't get much of a tank.
A nos domi is a 20km+ setup, so as long as range can be maintained, the mega will lose.

We'll u all can tell that skils dont make a difference ... as a recent mega user I have to disagree ! I cant even tank it yet ... that's how far behind in skils I am !
