I live in Empire (low sec) most of the time, and I'm in a very active corp. Yes, I play EVE for the multiplayer part, as do my corp mates. I have spent some time in 0.0, and heres some of the issues I've run into:
1. Entry: Yes, gate camps can be a problem if its people just looking to wreak havoc. the biggest problem is not knowing who is there. often times the camps (that ive run into) change from what alliance/corp is there several times a day. its not as drastic as alot of people around here are making it though. I've found that many of the alliances are willing to work out standings if youre not there to attack them or threaten their sovereignty. Treat it as: Its their house, live by their rules. It may require you have some diplomacy skills, but it is somewhat workable.
2. Lack of support. as a corporation, we're not looking to join one of the huge 0.0 alliances. we work well together as a team, and like deciding our own policy. with a small group of people, and not alot of "im beta dude" players, its hard to get much done in the way of 0.0. we can run a gang up, hang out for a bit, but then have to leave. we dont have the numbers to protect ourselves/sustain ourselves round the clock.
some suggestions that I have to fix this:
1. allow alliances to anchor gate guns in their space. this should make entry systems at least a little bit more stable, as you typically know who you will have to deal with to get through. a large invasion during a war will also still be able to take them down, but it will stop alot of the groups who come to camp for a few hours. for these i would advocate the "Not Red Dont Shoot" policy.
2. more alliances "leasing" out 0.0 systems to corporations. CCP: work a system for this into the actual game. We may not want to join your alliance, but we're more than willing to work with you and probably benefit you economically, and even join gangs from time to time. I know that some alliances will let you "rent" access to their space, but its often way too expensive and hard to reach. (gate camps again).
I think this would make 0.0 a bit more appealing to empire players. They dont have to worry about working out agreements with 500 different groups, only to be killed by the 1 they forgot, and they dont have to join a huge alliance. alot of us like the close group of corpmates we have. basically to the large alliances, if you want more people out there, be a bit more friendly to them. a 50 man corp isnt gonna take down a 2k member alliance. again, the "Not Red Dont Shoot" policy. this isnt gonna reduce PVP, since you will always have wars, invasions, etc. If you want to rule over a large swath of space and a large number of players, dont make it so all of them have to officially wear your armband at all times.
to the alliances out there that do follow this to an extent: good job, youre making eve a better game. ________________________________________________ Magus Ordo Praetoria Adeptus Illuminati Aegis Authentica
