While I realize there is no answer to this question as there are so many different variables involved, I'm curious what people think would be the minimum dps needed to be able to break a tank on a general pvp tanked BS.
Again, I realize there is no answer to this without more specifics, but as a general rule how much dps would you say is a comfortable number that you'd be able to break most tanks with, if obviously not all.
I've done some tests myself, but trying to get a sense of what number I should be shooting for, and since I'm looking to use the smallest ship possible, I'm interested in what other people see as the absolute lowest dps you could expect to use against a BS and actually win. ------------------------- I hate everyone, except you. |

Similar damage to what a BS can inflict.
Some will come down with 100 DPS, others will need over 400 DPS, purely circumstancial.
Armageddon - Low DPS, but it will rip you a new one quickly and can tank for a while with boosters. Apocalypse - High DPS to break
Dominix / Megathron - Medium DPS, Megathron can't last as long due to boosters.
Scorpion - Low DPS, their tank is ECM. Raven - High DPS to break
Tempest/Typhoon - Relatively high as they will boost, typhoon is much harder since it doesn't always need charges.

It would depend really. If you are nossing the BS dry, you could kill it doing 50 DPS, but you'd take awhile.
Sorry you can't afford a dev so you get me instead ^^ - Xorus I hear Xorus is only 50 isk an hour - Immy Oooh that could get Suvetar for the day! - Cathath For 50, you can have my goat:P- Tirg |

Standard LAR II repairs 71.1 dps with maxed skills. Figure in resists and you get the following numbers to what such a BS can tank:
resist % - tankable dps ----------------------- 60 - 177.8 65 - 203.2 70 - 237.0 75 - 284.4 80 - 355.6 85 - 474.1
The numbers are similar for shield tanked ships with a LSB II + SBA. For ships with a dual LAR II or an XLSB + SBA you effectively double those numbers.

I'd say 200raw dps (no em vs armor tanks!) should do fine vs most pvp set bs. you won't break a real tank but those are meant to tank multiple bs so dont worry.
thats without nos. with nos it really comes down on how your nos work vs his cap recharge. small nos won't hurt a bs (as long as they dont come in insane numbers). also nos wont hurt cap boosting tanks much but if you can tank them long enough they end up easy pray after booster charges are out (and thats about a max of 5min for a standard bs boosting 800s).

you can usually kill me with any dps that breaks passive shield regeneration . . . . . . . . provided that you live long enough. --------------------- Looking for frentix? Mail me.

Edited by: Gonada on 16/09/2006 12:31:32 um dominix is a great tank
really you cant get an average for any ship, just remember the amount of lowslots, possible tank setups and go from there.
a good tank though, bout 350 id think
-I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.-

only a few ships can solo break another tank - geddon bthron, and other close range setups are whats need to break a dual rep/raven tank. the normal way is to last longer than your target - ravens, pests do this. another option is nos them which reduces there ability to tank domi/phoon are ship most used in this way.

The average omni dual rep BS tank takes about 320 DPS to break
