They are not bad at what they do, nope.
They DID get 4K out of their 5K monthly (so far) kills camping Jita/Dodi/Amarr undocks. That being said, they DO have excellent station campers AND roamers, underestimate at one's own risk.

I have heard that to join DF an API is not rquired but a Rorschach test is, can you confirm that?

It is not only Jita to be fair, they also rake a lot in Dodi and Amarr, and also have hunting kills sparsed through the hub kills. If they recruit a bit more, they will be able to cover Hek and Rens too!
In FA, we seem to have noticed a slowing down in WT activities on the usual traffic roads (Its fine, more hunting, less camping), maybe other merc groups can confirm or infirm that. Or maybe we jost got a bad couple of weeks on random WT catching.
So, I'd say the enormous amount of wars and insta-blapping of anything red that undocks is quite effective.
