This Intrepid Scope Reporter and Npc Overlord has the scoop
Firstly they are called "White Knights" by the gankers with deliberate KuKluxKlan connotations implied in order to slur any code. resistance.
The actual term is "the Shadow Walkers" as at this point they are not in a position to actively counter the newest of the ganker alliances they attempt to counter roams, economically disrupt their operations and halt their activities in the forums
It is also their game play that a truly dangerous shadow walker says little in A.G (anti-ganking channel) instead they simply move thru the CODE. to place themselves at a highest levels, they may be some of the most notorious gankers in the alliance making friends and connections thru this fame.
They are awoxers of the highest calibre, ones who can sit on comms and convince all that they have the alliances best interests at heart and will do anything to prove their loyalty and actively fund the Code. roams
They will be the cruellest , coldest and most ruthless of the gankers indicating no moral compass and have started in the CODE. from its creation. Why?...Because CCP has a limit to what it will tolerate and if code was to cross that line...
and so the S.Ws need to push it past this line

True "white knights" attempt to break a gank to the best of their ability. Mostly futile since no effort is put into organizing a fleet/group effort to establish any kind of command presence in a system being sieged by gankers. Therefore, code always wins. Unfortunately for the non-tanked, noncompliant and pure unlucky. |

I tried putting something together. Got called CODE alt (and worse things), and effectively told off for wanting to "limit" the escort duties to known-blue freighter pilots (i.e. "filter them out, so we're not wasting time on the AFK ... or associates of reds").
Apparently "wanting to actively do something about the 'problem'*" is grounds for getting acid poured on you by the AG community.

That's because there was a small variance in what you wanted to do, and what the toxic people (Jennifer and Sarah I'm looking at you) wanted to do. After all, these are people who ban you from their channel for explaining things like how to avoid being ganked and how to do API background checks.

In medieval times, White Knight was an Anglo-Norman title for one of the three heridatary knighthoods in Ireland. The first White Knight was Maurice Fitzgibbon. He died in 1357, but the title of White Knight was passed from father to son for nearly 300 years. Leto Thule is also correct, as the term has other meanings.
