I've only been playing eve for about 5 I'm still using a trial account, I like the game, looks like I'm going to buy it. Anyways, time to get straight to the point.
I've been doing quite a few agent missions for the Caldari Navy, my agent is Tuga Nato Level 1 security. I've been offered a mission to supply Tuga with 48 Nerve sticks the LP cost is 120. Now I've been looking around DB sites and the forums but i can't seem to find the answers I need. My questions are:
Where do I get Nerve Sticks? How do I smuggle them? Should I even bother accepting the offer? Does anyone have any tips for this mission?
At this point of the game I'm flying a Merlin outfitted with 2x 125mm hybrid rails, and 2x rockets, and a couple of random med items. I don't really know my way around, and I don't really know how I should do whatever it is I'm going to do. I know narcotics are illegal, and I shouldn't get caught with them, I don't know how to smuggle or anything for that matter.
I would greately appreciate any helpful information. Thank You in advance.

U cannot buy them from the market, they are contraband. The only chance u have is to find them in low sec system and "import" them. I would care much about this offer, it actually suxx.
Save the LP and wait for an implant offer, which is around 15k for a +2 or +3 (not sure atm).

Problem with smuggling is that it's way too easy to get caught. There are ways to reduce the chance of being scanned at each checkpoint (gate) but usually you need multiple highsec jumps to get the goods where you want them, and thus the odds of making it through get really crappy. Never mind trying to make a career out of it. Even if it was possible to "blockaderun" customs vessels, you're still getting stiff fines and nasty hits to your security rating and pretty soon you're barred from highsec and KOS for Concord.

They really need to impliment smuggling skills for these missions and let people choose to be the contraband smuggler.
As it stands, it's a fools game.

When I first started I used to do all the smuggling missions because they paid out so well, just roll an alternate character and use him to do all your smuggling needs. Looking back on it though, I prolly filled 50 smuggling missions transporting small arms, slaves, drugs, etc, and I never got caught... not a single time.

Be different, do the mission.
Of cource I am staying far from it myself.
To the person who mentionned smuggling skills, they actually exist. Well at least I know one skill : Black market.
Black Market : Skill at forging cargo manifest and disguising contraband cargo. from a base chance 90%, each level of skill reduces the chance of contraband detection by 10%.
It is not clear to me where exactly this "chance of detection" applies.. but at level 5, you would end with 50% chance of detection.
Theories:
1) There might be specific Concord ships that have cargo scanners, and that you can avoid in the first place. (If you experiment with this, notice which kind of Concord ship locks you first.) 2) You might get away with invisibility type modules. 3) You might get away by using small ships like shuttles. (Maybe Concord only scan cargo ships.. It could explain how Cutie Chaser was able to do it freely.)
This is an interesting topic that needs investigation.

Searching marketplace (Even with show unavailable) yields no skillbooks for "Black Market" "Black" or "Market"
If it exists and must be obtained by other methods, I simply don't know them.

Theres one thing I havent' gotten from this yet, where can I buy them? All I know of is the market. Are there other markets I don't know of, that I could go to? I'm sorry I'm still fairly new.

40% actually.

It's possible to custom pick a starting characters' career so that you get the Black Market Trading skill. Some say the skill doesn't do anything at all, though.
In the same way, it's possible to create a scientific character that comes with Biology, Genetic Engineering or Mnemonics. Which affect things that aren't ingame yet (coming in Kali), and the skillbooks are unavailable.
As for transporting contraband.. it's Customs that will scan you, not Concord. I'm not clear on the specifics. Some say a Customs ship needs to fly within 2.5km of you to scan your cargo. Cloaking supposedly works, but you can't jump while cloaked.
As for acquiring contraband, you need to head to lowsec / 0.0 or raid rat complexes (like Serpentis Narcotics Warehouse) and blow up the buildings for contraband loot.

Ahh, so only certain racial picks can obtain the skill? That's rather strange.

Edited by: Myyona on 19/09/2006 09:13:03 I belive all races have an education line which includes Black Market Trading. That means you can only get it in character creation. Not that it matters though. Smuggling is contra popular belief VERY EASY these days. The custom ships nearly never scan you.
The triggy part is ofcourse getting the drugs. They can be bought at the NPC pirate stations out in 0.0 but getting a load safely to empire space from out there aren't easy. Also it is a big bother that you can't sell contraband through the regular market nor escrow in empire space.
Generally mission runners tend to get small ammounts of contrbands from various missions (if they're not too scared of customs not to pick them up) so you might have a chance of finding some asking them.
EDIT: Somebody should start a collection service of all these small stashes. Actually I think somebody is doing that already...

So, if you're going to go for it, you should go for broke and transport an indy-full and keep your fingers crossed? Instead of doing lots of small-cargo trips..
Is the contraband fine tied somehow to the total average value of the contraband?
