So the standard description for industrial ships is +5% bonus to max velocity and cargo space per level. I propose that they should change this to a +5% bonus to agility and max cargo space. This because haulers are so slow with expanders that the only time I spend not in warp is when I am accelerating to do get into warp- ie, I always use instas.
Considering you enter warp when you are aligned at 75% of your max speed, increasing your max speed actually increases the time it takes to get into warp. Thus this extra speed is actually a penalty.
To keep things balanced CCP would probably have to reduce base agility and increase base speed on affected ships.

I don't think it's a good idea that a ship bonus originially intended to shorten the hike from warp-exit to gate should be replaced by the sheer fact that it is no longer relevant with the use of a mechanic not positively intended to be part of the game.

Instas are an abomination. They were never intended, and even so, they detract from the game world by the way they change the characteristics of warp.
I do not support the idea.

I hate the slow aligment time of the ships too.
I don't use instas, because I am new, because I am not giving ISK to buy some, because I am not going to spend days in making them and mostly because they are missuese of the game engine. I hope that they will be removed soon and replaced with a common solution to everyone.
About the problem with the industrials. They realy turn very slow. What I can suggest is to increase the bonus to the cargo hold space per level ot let's say 20%. This way the need for cargo hold expander would not be so big, i we can fit some nanofibers or other useful things. I hate that I have to fill all my low slots with hold expanders. This is a hauler ship after all. It must have enough space.
Also the transport ships - they realy suck. I can't find a reason why to use them, instead of industrials.

Fit nano fibres or train for transport ships.
Problem solved.
