So, I've finally got my alt into a Covetor and it's time to hit the roid fields. I'm mainly a Caldari flyer in T2 shield fittings, but I'm looking for a general answer here.
I'm looking to tank up to a triple saint spawn, FOREVER :)So, I've heard kicked around as options for Caldari flyer like myself, Ferox or Scorp. I'd like to hear what other people are using and suggestions of setups too :) Thanks in advance for the help!
FEROX - added shield resists - mining link FTW!
SCORP - bigger tank - more mids for cap rechargers
RAVEN - I've already got one

I don't have a setup on hand, but the Scorp is the best tanker out of the ships you listed.

The one with the most turrets ie ferox.
Think you are misguided on how to 0.0 mine, you should never have to tank 3 BSs while mining, find a belt with a couple of cruisers and some frigs, kill off all but one ship and tank that, kill respawns as they appear, the same ships you already killed will respawn. I think YOU are misinformed how to 0.0 mine. You really dont want any respawning rats firing away at your precious covetors, they pop really fast.

Edited by: John Grimm on 19/09/2006 17:37:00 Sir Erighan is right, but the Scorp is not the best ship for the job you want.
The Ferox has that mining link, which is verry nice, but most importantly its passive tank is greate. You may not be able to tank triple Saints, but why would you want to You see rats some times change targets (which was unfortunate for my poor Covetor ), so it's good idia to find yourself an easy spawn, let say cruisers or if you realy want that belt with the Saints in it, kill them and wait for the next spawn. And most importantly when you're mining with your alts only you may get distracted and some Pirate or an Enemy Alliance gang mite warp on you... A T2 fited Ferox is cheaper than a T2 fited Scorp (aways be prepaired for the loss the minute you undock, unconsesual PvP FTW). And last the passive tank lets you leave the Ferox in place with out having to micro manage the Shield Boosters. Just don't forget to gang Warp when trouble arrives.
death chant is very very right. You NEVER EVER kill a single frig of the spawn you're tanking, mining barges are thiner than paper.

Misread it as he was mining in a covetor in safe space and was moving to SOLO mining in 0.0, not tanking spawns while his alt mines.
My tactic still stands just dont kill anything, tank it instead, you still ownt be tanking tripple BS spawns. Your signature is too large. Please see the Forum Rules for the limits - Serathu ([email protected])

Saints are one of the rare Angel bs's that do thermal damage; you really want to avoid those if you're shield tanking. Nephs or Malakim, although technically harder, will be easier to shield tank due to resist types.

Edited by: EyeMaster on 20/09/2006 14:15:02 Fit a heavy nos or two on your tanker ship. Keep a couple of the rats nossed so they maintain aggro on you. The reason they change targets is of lack of agression on your part.
Also, if you have 150m spare iskies laying about, fit a small gistii shield rep, two amps and hardeners on a raven. Just let the booster run on repeat, ive not seen a spawn yet (upto and including a triple 1.7) that can break a hardened gistii tank.
[Edit] Admittedly, i dont fight Angels, so the scorp may work better to allow wider resist range for hardeners.

you really shouldn't need anything too fancy. you can try a ferox with 3 hardeners, 2x large shield extender II's, and a mix of pdu ans shield power relays in low. that way you just turn it on and walk away. nothing worse than having to keep turning a shield booster on and off. The other option would be a raven with 3x hardeners, 3x shield extenders, and 4x shield power relays, 1x pdu. that raven setup i know for sure will tank well, and can run the hardeners all day. I still wouldn't recommend tanking a triple bs spawn though, as they do like to switch targets ocasionally.

Edited by: Calth Ragnarr on 20/09/2006 15:51:07 I just tried my ferox's tank yesterday, when tanking 3x1.7mil gurista rats shield stayed at 52%
Setup: 3 shield extenders, 1 kin, 1 therm 4 SPR
You need good cap skills to keep the hardeners running with 4 SPR

If you kept it at 52% shields, you could probably even remove a SPR and put on a pdu for more shield and less worry about cap if u don't have skills.

If you see any Seraphs, watch out. They do EM damage also. Cherubs and Saints hit with Thermal.
